M4 sounds muted in real life - the car is very quiet inside.

Driving them back to back - there is a HUGE difference. The RCF feels more special primarily bec of the engine.
Its obviously no LFA v10 but its an Awesome sounding V8.
Besides Ferrari 458 and Jag Ftype V8 which I drove earlier this year, its one of the sweetest sounding engines i have experienced,

In the M4, the car just goes FAST but u dont really notice it, there is no DRAMA to it.

just imagine when you put a JoeZ/PPE dual mode exhaust on the RCF. Some of the M3/4 exhaust systems dont really improve the exhaust tone that much and they are expensive too.

Let us not bash turbo engines, which Japanese have dominated before, as they are to return.

i think we can all agree that there is still substantial room for automotive advancement in the design of turbo engines.

I don't doubt that in time they will come to meet the expectations of auto enthusiasts who have historically favored V8s. But...for now, the RCF may indeed have the best engine in its class.

Everything that you said is the reason why I opt to not get an F8X to replace my E90 M3, the engine no longer has that "special" feel in sound or power delivery like the S65 or the S54 prior to it.

for what its worth, the E90/E92 M3 was limited to 155mph in 7th gear (7-DCT transmission), however, its been tested to hit 174mph in 6th gear. Nice little loop-hole eh?

Car like this requires much more skill and more effort to track. You'll get beat up on a track day.

Its funny how earlier in the video one of the reviewers says the M4 oversteer is easy to control, its so balanced and controllable. Then in the hot lap, the veteran driver is thrashing the wheel like hes cutting down a tree.

LOL sounds like a FWD Camry is more suited for your liking...

If you have >400 hp RWD that is to be expected.

Says who? The RCF does not have this characteristic.

If that is what you want, go for it.

This nails it for me (from Autospies.com referring to MT RC F head to head with M4):
I've been a bit skeptical of this since I found the first-gen IS F to be a very capable street machine. Frankly, we're not racing these things, we're driving to our offices. That's why I am not always a fan of these quantified tests — they don't tell the truth about really owning one and it becomes about tenths of a second. Pretty stupid, honestly.

So, you are dodging the buy over 3/10s of a second...really?

Not sure what you are looking for...
EVO ECOTY 2014 Results

Doesn't the RC F also participate in some COTY? It could have a chance.

It is, this comparo was announced over 2 months ago, but for some reason nothing happens here. Similar cars to the EVO test you are linking to.

"spikey on-limit" handling of M4 was easily seen on MT video comparo vs RC-F... watching Randy Pobst drive them both side by side, difference in result was really small but RC-F required drastically less corrections on track.

Most of us are not Randy Pobst, especially me.

Well put.

Maybe some people think they're the second coming of Michael Schumacher, or that the 0.3 sec straight line advantage is what they're gunning for.
