The OP was referring to 991s not GT3s. Two completely different models. The 991 is very reliable. I have one and have had zero issues. No major issues have been reported within the forums also. That said, I have an RC F on order and think it will be a great value for the money.
Glad to hear the German standard of excellence is holding up.

Useless for adults but not small children and can be used as storage give the small boot space up front when required.

Forget the 991, how about the 981 S? Test drove one over the weekend and completely changed my perception of the perfect sports car. It was a sublime driving experience, and not one second did I feel like it was underpowered coming from a V8. In fact it pulled more consistently and quickly than the F. The balance, handling, and responsiveness were insane!
And let's not even start on the build and interior quality compared to Lexus. It's in a whole different league. I was super skeptical and walked away thinking that the car is underpriced. Back to the drawing boards for me.

I don't know but in my opinion once a car that I buy and drive tarnishes it's reputation for not being a reliable vehicle as I would like it to be I will stray away from that brand cough cough Volvo s60r. I don't mind regular Maintnance stuff but if it's fixing one thing after another I'm closing the chapter of the book for that car brand.
There was a lot of issues with some Porsches over the years even current ones so in my opinion I wouldn't get it. I mean I love the gt2 gt3 variants I don't think I would buy one unless I wasn't going to keep it for a very long time. Short term sure longterm no way unless you have very deep pockets.

The 991 C2S is a sublime car. I haven't driven the RCF so I don't know there but there should be no worries of reliability with Porsche's. The new gen's don't have any of the IMS/RMS stuff the 996's did or early 997's. The build quality is in my opinion unmatched and they are built to be driven. I honestly don't think you can go wrong with either.
The biggest factor I think is simply the styling. One is going to be more subtle and the other one scream "OMG LOOK AT ME!". Just depends on what fits your personality the most.
Personally I would go 2012 991 (or 981 S as others mentioned) because frankly you're not going to get nailed with initial depreciation you're going to take on the Lexus. Unless you like lighting your money on fire the Porsche would be the better financial decision at this point IMO.
