Different animals. If you ever have the opportunity to get a right seat ride at a track day in a Porsche with a good driver, you'll know why they have such a strong following. While the RCF will be a good car, the Porsches are great cars.

If you are never planning to track your cars, it would be better to consider practicality and intended use to decide. Or, you could do what any number of owners do - "Hey, I really look great in this car!" and be done. Seriously. Car sales depend a lot on "I look good in this car."

Oh, yes, and this too:

Thanks for the rep, Lobux. I don't know whether to feel proud or shameful. LOL.

There's no comparison between the RC F and 911. Even the RC F's chief engineer said he considers the 911 to be the best sports car ever made!!

(The Lexus will at least be more reliable.)

We have a couple of Porsche in the family and it's quite a treat whenever you're driving them. Sure the 991 S isn't as torquey and powerful as the 5.0 V8 in the RC-F, but the Porsche makes up by being a couple hundred pounds lighter.

Tough decision!

Waiting for the influx of "Lexus is more reliable. Reliability = only thing that matters in a car"

Well a car doesn't go very fast when it's in the shop all the time

I said that to my friend when he bought his new E46 M3 a while back. Out of his first 12 months of ownership, 2.5 months were spent in the BMW garage.

That being said, Porsches are pretty good when it comes to reliability, at least with my family's experience with them.

The twin power turbo-charged M3s are having repeated problems with engines needing major overhauls at $30-40K miles. Given the transplanting of the engine into the M4, the future can likely be predicted. Is it really worth a couple of tenths on the low end to go through the service scenarios?

As for the 911, there have been some major problems as of late--engine replacement.

Porsche Cars North America is recalling certain model year 2014 911 GT3 vehicles manufactured October 19, 2013, through January 16, 2014. In the affected vehicles, a piston connecting rod may come loose and damage the engine crankcase.

Consequences: A damaged crankcase may allow engine oil to leak onto hot components in the engine bay which may result in a fire.

Remedy: Porsche will notify owners, and dealers will install a new engine with improved piston connecting rod connections, free of charge. The recall began on June 6, 2014.

.
The OP was referring to 991s not GT3s. Two completely different models. The 991 is very reliable. I have one and have had zero issues. No major issues have been reported within the forums also. That said, I have an RC F on order and think it will be a great value for the money.

Very true! But sometimes it's okay to sacrifice a bit of reliability for some fun

All GT3s have been recalled, and there is a very limited number of them.
