yes ive read that 10x. That doesnt conclusively prove anything. Read what the definition of an actuator is. Its a motor designed to cause movement in a mechanism or system - mechanical. How does a speaker result from this? An actuator needs to be controlled also hence the electronic control unit.

the rcf is no difference here at all, period. all cars have intrinsic intake, engine, and exhaust sound. doesn't matter rcf or m3 or m5. it's just matter of enough or not. clearly not the case in m3 and m5 so additional sound were added. i don't know if it's "enough" in the rcf, but lexus decided to add it to the rcf in the sport+ mode. it's the same thing

i just personally don't see how this now becomes a praising point on the rcf
It's not really. The RCF engine in and of itself sounds like an entry level Ferrari. The M4 sounds like crap.

The actuator amplifies natural sound with tones. The M4 is playing a sound track from what some describe to be from a video game.

There is quite a difference here: turbo tweets versus the RCF roar.

Google the Golf GTI or GLI Sound Actuator... Agreed it may not look like a traditional "speaker"..

But sound comes out of a round box where wires have been routed too...

And let me guess....the wires are connected to some sort of 'cone' or 'reverse microphone' which outputs sound?

Here is a better explanation of the Audi / VW device...

Even the Golf owners take them out...

Motor Trend COTY testing has a video of the intake sound generator in action:

(whether or not that is really what it is, I don't know. After reading this thread, I am just confused.)

^^^ Yes they have NO ****ING clue also.... sadly

All they had to do was read their Media Press kit....

My comment on their IG post read the following:

"That is the Secondary Intake Flap that opens at 3,600 RPM just like the IS F... Whats new in the RC F is Active Sound Control for the interior cabin..
Which is eletrical generated.

so it seems that most of the reviewers were either pleased with or unaware of the artificial sound generator. the guys from tfl mentioned it several times in their review, but the overall effect must be pretty seamless.

It is actually an actuator. The ASC blends with the natural intake and exhaust sounds to about a 50:50 ratio.

The make believe engine sound has been deployed by BMW in the M4.
