Mustang specs just released; pretty evenly matched on paper: "The 5.0-liter V8 is probably what fans are most excited to hear about -- it’s good for 435 hp and 400 lb-ft of torque. That’s a tidy 15 hp and 10 lb-ft increase over the outgoing model, and it’s within spitting distance of the 444-hp Boss 302. Not bad." http://www.autoweek.com/article/car-...ang-horsepower

Refinement, handling will leave a much bigger gap, as evidenced by price difference. Doubt it will be a fair fight. RCF FTW. But honorable mention to Mustang in Bang-for-the-Buck category.

RC-F is 471 HP and 393 ft-lbs of torque so not quite evenly matched unless the Mustang weighs like 400 - 500 lbs less. However, I doubt it since the last gen Mustang GT weighed 3850 lbs so the new one ain't going to be lighter.

Both cars are awesome in their own segment though. If I were to choose or compare american muscle cars, I'd most definitely pick the Mustang over the Camaro or the Challenger. Hell, I've even pondered about getting a GT 5.0 but I've got my 300zx and I'm sticking with it.... Then I would compare the RCF with an BMW M4 or Audi RS5 and by what I've seen I'd choose the RCF.

Now since these are the choices the OP narrowed down to, I'd say if you can afford an RCF then I wouldn't think about it twice and just get it. But that's me... if you are looking for a car to modify and play with, think about how much parts are also going to be in comparison and how much aftermarket parts you're even going to find. The Mustang will more than likely have a huge advantage when it comes to modding over the RCF. But then again, I wouldn't do much to an RCF except maybe wheels and an intake/exhaust
Why mod the Mustang when you can get a Shelby GT350R? Granted we don't know what the specs are yet but I think that will be more comparable to the RC-F than just a regular ol V8 GT. The Shelby just sounds totally sick!!

"Roll a base 2015 6MT Mustang GT fastback onto the scales and it'll show 3705 lbs. That's an 87-lb increase over the 2014. With the new automatic, the Mustang GT weighs 3729 lbs, a 54-lb increase."

I'm ordering one as a company car next week so I can directly compare it with the RC and RC F in the near future.... they have a very interesting orange, well played Ford...

Around 35k for a V-8 GT manual..not bad at all...

Here are the official Specs:

5.0L V8
435 HP / 400 LB-FT (on 93 octane) (up from 420 HP / 390 LB-FT of 2014 S197)
Compression ratio: 11:1
Manual curb weight: 3705 lbs (+87 lbs over 2014 S197)
Automatic curb weight: 3729 lbs (+54 lbs over 2014 S197)

This thing will be a BEAST with the Perf Pack!
It includes:
Front brakes: Brembo six-piston, 36-millimeter fixed aluminum calipers with 380-millimeter rotors
Rear brakes: Single-piston, 45-millimeter floating iron calipers with 330-millimeter rotors
Unique 19x9-inch Ebony Black painted alloy wheels with Pirelli 255/40R19 Y-speed-rated tires, front; 19x9.5-inch alloy wheels with Pirelli 275/40R19 Y-speed-rated tires, rear
Strut tower brace
3.73:1 final drive ratio with Torsen differential
Unique front splitter to channel cooling air to the front brakes

During track testing, the 2015 Mustang GT with performance package consistently beat the lap times of the 2012-2013 Mustang Boss 302.

Clearly they took the lessons learned from that project and applied it to this one

manual = yuck.

and i have my suspicions about how an automatic transmission with paddle shifters on a 45k mustang GT would perform.

Both the RC F and Mustang GT are going to be awesome cars. Stop being so negative

Stang GT is still a 6AT, so I doubt its one of the new fast ZFs which are 8ATs

Actually the RC-F makes 550Nm which translates to 406 ft-Ibs of the old money

Default The underdog of the bunch!!!

The Ford Mustang is going to be the underdog and WILL gain enthusisats from all levels. In the past I was so ANTI-Ford anything. But with the recent generation Coyote motor in the 2014's and now the new gen coyote motor that has bits from the Boss 302, the IRS and the new interior/exterior design..this car is a winner
Ford has already stated that with the Performance pack in the GT, will be faster around a track then the Boss 302....and that is saying something. With the different engine options available, the hard core Mustang fans will want the 5.0, but the 2.3L ecoboost is a killer!!!!! With Cobb and Mishimoto already onboard to develop parts and tuning software for this vehicle it is going to be a beast.

2 things...... ford has stated the 5.0 stock block is good for up to 1000HP and they have released last week Ford racing parts that will bolt up to the vehicle. One of those parts is the Roush supercharger, good for 600HP, if installed by a Ford dealership, you will retain FULL warranty of the vehicle. Last month Whipple finally released their supercharger and they guarantee 700HP.

Mustang enthusiasts were wary of the IRS and ford has released a video yesterday show casing 3 vehicles...enjoy. Base model GT with the Roush supercharger 41K.....smoking Lambos and Ferraris

Mustang Video of all 3 cars in 1/4 mile run
