Default RCF vs 2015 Mustang GT

I'm comparing these 2 cars personally because they fit most of my requirements: NA V8, performance, backseat, useable trunk, great styling.

Bec of the engine and styling - im not considering M4 personally.

Obviously RCF is more refined and better built but will it offer better performance?
Also aftermarket support will me much more robust for the Mustang.

If price was the same, obviously i would get RCF but its about $25-30k more.

Anyone else cross shopping these 2 cars?

That's tough to say because they are pretty evenly matched not to mention the Mustang has a new suspension which should improve upon past. I think the RC F will be faster but surely a few bolt-ons could counter with the Mustang. Personally it may be a drivers race. Also Mustang will have the 6MT option.

The new Mustang web configurator came online today, built mine: GT Premium Fastback, 6MT Oxford White on Black add GT Track Package, Reverse Park Assist, Navigation and Recaro seats and I'm looking at $43,900. And this includes a blind spot monitor. The refinement and quality of the RC F though is tough to beat. Driving both (when available) is really the only way to know which suits you better

You answered your own question.

I'm kind if in the same boat. I'm trying to decide between the RC-F and a Huracan. I know they're not in the same league, but each has their pluses and minuses. Makes my decision more complex.

Pay very close attention to the trans and the differential and brakes....A RWD car without a mechanical LSD is garbage.

This really comes down to "you get what you pay for". While the Mustang has superb bang-for-the buck, it will still feel bargain basement compared to the RCF. On paper they may be a close match but in the FEEL there will be no comparison.

Obviously the RC F is a M3 etc competitor. That said I think there were comparos with the boss 302 and M3 and the ford was either as good or better for way less.

But if life was about value and compromise we would all drive suburu sti's or wrx's

So even without looking at both just looking at the difference in technology the RC F is worth it. For people on the internet in 2014 that still think peak HP numbers mean cars are comparable I have a few bridges to sell them

Oddly enough the two Americans I'm comparing the RC F with is the jaw dropping Z06 and the Dodge Hellcat. I'm in love with both.

I rode in a friends 2009 Mustang GT the other day and was surprised at how "worn" it seemed. My 2007 GS430 rides like a brand new car compared to his....and he is a car enthusiast. The difference in quality between Ford/Chevy and Lexus is noticed way more a few years into ownership.

Can't really compare the two IMHO. They are two very different classes of car. American sports cars will give you the best bang for the buck in terms of performance but the tradeoff is everything else - build quality, reliability, etc.

I think the answer for you is pretty clear since you answered it in your post. You want a car that fits your technical requirements but the cost of the RC-F is a major concern. Get the Mustang, this is a no brainer.

With all due respect a 2005-2014 Mustang let alone a 2009 model which is pre 2011 refresh is going to be a different experience than the 2015 the OP is referring to which has been redone inside and out and goes far beyond skin deep

Agree - the new interior looks awesome and high quality....I would not even consider the current Mustang due to poor interior and cheap build quality.
Anyone can sit in a current Fusion and see that Ford has definitely stepped up in interior quality.

Obviously RCF will be in different league.

Great pictures. To think you can get saddle interior gives great contrast. Those recaros look supportive and have nice detailing. My biggest gripe with the 6AT models is there is no paddle shifters and rather that silly toggle switch on the shifter

Get the Mustang. Much better value. Every time you regret your decision just think about the $30k you saved. Any time you regret your decision after that just think about all of the compound interest you're getting from that $30k in the market.

$30k saved now isn't just $30k. It's $60k, $80k, $100k in the future.

I would definitely wait for GT500, but if I can't I would get 5.0 over RC-F. Too much price gap for a bit more premium feel.
