That will be a stretch for Lexus. The BMW faithful pay that for an M3, but Lexus does not have the credibility to compete without having a pricing advantage. The outgoing ISF had trouble selling at $63k. BTW, I'm not passing judgement on the car, only the marketing side of the equation.

So has Lexus confirmed pricing and first delivery of models to showrooms? I'd like to go test drive it once they have it. Just came back from driving the new F80 M3 and all I have to say is BMW sure has one impressive car on their lot!

The new M3 is everything that has been hyped about the car and more. I drove my R8 there, did the test drive and when I got back into the R8, it was a huge difference in feeling, but not in lack of power. Both cars are equally impressive and would be proud to have in my driveway. Look for my review elsewhere.

I'd like to see how the RC-F stacks up just out of curiosity....

Since the pricing is spot-on as shown in the leaked brochure, I am sure the leaked brochure for the specs would be accurate as well. So 471 HP, it is.:

Its still got a pricing advantage over an M4. The M4 base price is $64,200...but its WAY less equipped than an RCF as in typical BMW fashion. You've got to pay for paint colors and interior leather, the full leather package on the M4 is $3,500! "Extended leather" is $1,000...cloth/leather is standard.

In order to compare to an RCF you need to add the Executive Package at $4,000, and the lighting package at $1,900. $2,900 for an automatic (granted that is a better DCT), $875 for HK audio, $250 for enform like BMW connect, you're at $79,175...with a $6k price advantage to the RX...AND the RC has a V8...

How much is a similarly equipped M4 like a Carbon RC F? Youre never going to get one at 'just' 65k.

Nope, they don't even have anything like that. The roof of the M4 is plastic and reinforced with CF to save weight, but theres no option for a CF roof, etc.

77k for the Carbon RC F vs. 80k + for a similarly equipped M4 without the carbon roof or spoiler. The dual clutch and weight may be a win, but thats with less power and no V8. RC F is a real value imo. Let alone it may well be the better car.

M doesnt have TVD or digital gauges either. After driving F Sport gauges, analog gauges are so bland now

In many respects the RCF will attract a new buyer. And Lexus is really not focused on conquering the high volume side of the equation. It's being sold as the best overall driving experience in its class...and it will most likely succeed. I also believe the RCF is not meant to compete with the M3. Wait for the new ISF.

The ISF built the Lexus brand and paved the road for the LFA and now the RCF...and soon the GSF.

BTW: the loaded ISF was $67-68k without tax.

But its meant to compete with the M4. If Lexus does not say so, that is marketing cowardice. The GT-R targeted the 911 and won..
