I did, priced it out, and left. ha ha. In order to get equivalent performance, you are probably looking at spending close to 100k for the f type, meaning really you are paying a premium for that grand touring coupe styling and *maybe* some luxury? No thanks. I think the F-type is really for those looking for an alternative to the 991, but priced in a way so that Cayman S buyers might step up.
This is a head scratcher as most cars that are so close to production usually has some idea of pricing. We have a pretty wide spectrum of speculation here!

$69,900 to start. They will be smart to keep it "starting at under seventy thousand dollars".
Should add a poll to this thread so we can really keep track of price guesses.

he quoted 4TehNguyen's post who was comparing m3 to 3 and m4 to 4, at least the way i read it. personally i can see similarities between 3 and 4 but they also look diff, vs say c sedan vs c coupe. i do also agree rc looks more apart from the is. but i just think it doesn't make sense to compare a 4 to a 3. maybe that's what he meant but then again i don't agree on some others of what he said

Not sure why people are picking on the M3 or M4 for styling. They are handsome in pics and have a long heritage to follow. The funny thing is everytime some BMW purists hate the new look.
The RC F is not limited to this so it can be more outrageously designed. It's a point Lexus and I spoke about last week.

Styling is subjective but so many dumb comments saying M4 looks like a 4door 328i is just silly, or on bmw forums calling RCF a FRS on steroids.

sure, but it is not disrespect... we should applaud BMW for working hard on certain things and at the same time Lexus for also working hard on other things... I think that big props go to Lexus for not going with 3-door 3IS vibe, which is easier and cheaper to do.

Yeah. That's my point.
I actually liked the 4 series CONCEPT styling a lot and considered the 4 series seriously as my next car but the production 4 series design left me underwhelmed.
Still a very handsome car but a 4 series looks too much like a 3 series to be anything special looks-wise, hence an M4 won't stand out too much in terms of kerb appeal.
Whereas the base RC coupe looks so different from the IS ( for good or ill), it would be hard to tell they share a common platform. As a result, an RC-F is guaranteed to draw looks on the street.
In this case, Lexus just plain did a better job than BMW in differentiating their entry level coupe from their entry level sports sedan.
