  • The RC F employs a comprehensive "Optional" package of carbon fiber parts drawn from experience with LFA and with a limited edition race car, the IS F CCS-R. The carbon package includes roof, engine hood and active rear wing.

          • The most powerful Lexus V8 F model ever built will use an all-new 5.0 liter 32- valve engine with cylinder heads and moving parts that provide increased maximum power at higher engine revolutions than has previously been possible.
          • For the first time in a Lexus performance engine, the RC F uses the Atkinson cycle at cruising speeds for enhanced fuel economy and then it switches to the Otto cycle at higher revolutions to develop impressive performance levels.

          • Driver engagement has been made possible by purpose designed sound and power delivery sensations. A uniquely tuned eight-speed Sports Direct Shift (SPDS) transmission improves linear response to accelerator-pedal operation, which lets the driver better feel the torque and power as it is applied and a system of regulating induction and exhaust sound helps create a deep tone up to 3000rpm, and a higher-pitched tone as revolutions rise freely above 6000rpm.

          • The newly calibrated VDIM adds a vertical

          • G-sensor to provide greater vehicle stability.

          • The Lexus RC F uses the world’s first Torque Vectoring Differential (TVD) in a front-engine rear-drive vehicle, designed to heighten driving enjoyment. It has three operating modes:

・STANDARD for a balance of nimble performance and stability

・SLALOM for emphasis on nimble steering response

・TRACK for consistent, stable behavior, ensuring the vehicle stays on the intended corning line as the driver applies more throttle

          • As in the Lexus LFA supercar, an active rear wing is incorporated into the trunk lid to provide down force at speeds of more than 80kmh. The wing is a highlight of the RC F’s aerodynamic grip and stability package which also includes careful tuning of the flat underbody, the ducts at the rear of the front bumper and front fenders, and strategic placement of aero stabilizing fins.

          • The foundation for the vehicle’s mechanical grip is the high rigidity body which has large cross-section rocker panels and a highly rigid front lower brace, as well as using specialized Lexus manufacturing techniques, including body adhesives, laser-screw welding and multi-spot welding. Grip is further enhanced through use of a wider tire and wheel assembly. The RC F has coil-spring independent suspension front and rear, with monotube gas dampers and ball-jointed stabilizer bars.

          • Unsprung weight is enhanced by the adoption of three grades of new 19-inch diameter forged aluminum wheels which minimize tire/wheel assembly mass and maximize rigidity.

          SWEET JESUS...!!!!

Even if that's just a plastic cover, finally, it's very beautifully designed

Either way great to see a TRUE PERFORMANCE car from Lexus finally! Looks great.
Carbon pack will be serious $$$$$

Only negative - M3/4 will be much faster since its fairly lighter, about same hp and has more torque.

So I just looked over the specs that Joe Z posted and I've got mixed emotions.

          Notably:
          Weight: Targets less than 3,968
0-60: Targets faster than IS F (4.6 seconds)
MPG: Targets better than IS F (16/23)

The only one of these specs that I like is "MPG better than IS F", which would be impressive even if they could equal it from a 4,000lb, 460hp V8 car. RC F is indeed going to be very heavy, so it looks like Motor Trend's 3,970lbs number was accurate and came from Lexus. I hope they can make some last minute revisions and squeeze that additional 20hp out of the motor to get to 480...they will need it against M4 on the track.

How much does a kidney go for on the black market these days? I feel giddy about this car in the same way I felt about the LFA. This one is actually attainable though!

          For reference:

          RC F: 3,970lbs, 460hp = 8.63lbs/hp
          RC F: 3,970lbs, 480hp = 8.27lbs/hp
          M4: 3,300lbs, 420hp = 7.85lbs/hp
          RS5: 4,000lbs, 450hp = 8.88lbs/hp
          IS F: 3,780, 416hp = 9.03lbs/hp

Considering that RS5 is AWD, RC F is a pig. Lexus was on a roll for a while with cutting weight...guess that team didn't work on RC F!

Very fair of them, they admitted M3 was not the benchmark here nor they are chasing it with this car. Probably this car will have a different character than M3, more of a AMG monster maybe.

Specs on paper are ok but unless there is official weight figure, we cant really put a finger on it. But if weight was somehow the goal at developing RC-F they would have told us what they did to get the weight down. Unfortunately that doesn't seem to be the case which is really a shame considering how much effort they put in LFA to discover new ways and technologies.

But regarding M3/M4 I doubt that weight will be at 3,300 unless its a bare bone base trim. I expect it to be around 3,500 nicely equipped.
