Laser Jammers
Has anyone installed a laser jamming device ? If so do you think they are helpful, meaning have you had success in beating a ticket by getting enough advance warning when hit by a speed laser to slow down before they hit you again ? Thanks

I purchased a car out of FL a few years ago (that I didn't get to see in person first) and to my surprise it had a hardwired radar/laser jammer. I kept it in and it worked great! The downside, if I remember correctly, is that they are illegal in the US. Maybe someone else can chime in?

Radar jammers are illegal under Federal law. Laser jammers are only illegal in a handful of states.
Edit: Just to add... In most cases, the police don't need to know your actual speed to cite you for reckless driving. If they can tell you are obviously speeding excessively (like doing 150 mph). Some states also accept a trained officer's estimate of your speed as proof. Jammers are not a guaranteed ticket prevention method.
Last month I received my first ticket in 8 years. 100 in a 70. I haven't used radar/laser detectors or jammers in as many years. I used to get a ticket about every 3 months when I used a detector. I still speed a lot... paying attention and using common sense goes a long way. But always hire a lawyer for your tickets.

They are illegal in California,Colorado,Illinois, Minnesota,Nebraska, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas,Utah,Virginia, and Washington DC. I am in Ohio and my last ticket at 20 over was $380, so trying to avoid any more. I don't drive recklessly or at 150 mph but they can add up fast plus the points will be a problem since I have a CDL. The cops are pretty creative at where they hide, so trying to find a way to enjoy driving without always being on the lookout. I can have a passport installed at the dealer before I pick up my RC F. So thinking about doing it. Wanted to hear how they are working out for others.

If you get a quality laser jammer, like a Anti Laser Priority (ALP) with 2 or 3 heads up front, then yes they're very helpful and work wonderfully.
But before you go and blow 1k on a good laser jammer system, grab a cup of coffee and look at the maps here to see if laser is used in your county/State where you live. You might be surprised that only radar is used.

Here in Southern CA (Murrieta) I find that the LEO's use KA radar most of the time, and Laser occasionally.

True that!!!
I've known some truck drivers using laser jammers concealed expertly and professionally installed. One time a DOT tried very hard to locate the laser jammers on a semi truck allegedly speeding and can't find it. I guest if given enough time and patience the DOT would have found it.
Radar jammers are TOTALLY ILLEGAL ANYWHERE.
Commercial trucks are not allowed to even have radar/laser detectors ever since some law was passed more than some 25 years ago. But they have CB radios and of course, WAZE app.

Wait till you come up to a motorcycle cop with a laser gun pointed at you.......

I know the feeling and have almost needed to change my pants on a few occasions. Luckily my ALP system saved my butt. For radar, I use a Valentine One with the YaV1 APP, along with WAZE. Driving cross country or up in the mountains, I use an Escort RedLine. KA band radar still dominates though.

While I don't have one currently, I had a Blinder laser jammer on my IS-F, a Tacoma, and my Supra. It works, and works well. I was skeptical when I first bought one until I actually tested it in a real world scenario. I have a friend who is a cop - he brought out one of his friends that is specifically a traffic cop and we tested it. It worked every single pass at any speed. It works sort of like a "cloaking device" for the front end of the car. It gives the laser gun an error message. It has saved me several tickets from laser. Ideally, you would want to slow down to the speed limit and then turn off the blinder so the cop gets a reading. Most laser here is used by motorcycle cops, and the looks on their faces when the gun doesn't give a reading is priceless. I have had to stifle my smiles as I drove past.
A couple of caveats - Unless you buy 2 sets, only your front end is protected. This is fine with me, because rarely am I dumb enough to drive past a cop and let him laser me from the rear without slowing down, lol. Second, they are not legal.
The blinder is quite hard to see unless you are parked and looking for it. I had a custom install done in the plastic mesh grill on my IS-F. It also has a switch that turns it into a parking distance sensor, so if you do get questioned by a cop, it is fully functional for that. I have been pulled over for other reasons and never had a cop even notice the blinder. I would easily buy another Blinder system for my RC-F, however my current driving rarely takes me into a city that uses laser, so I have not bothered.
I bought them directly off their website (blinder.net). I did my own install on my Tacoma and Supra, but the IS-F I had done by a local stereo shop.

I know the area very well.
Some years ago I was going very spiritedly on 210 freeway middle of the night at around 2am (this was back when the 210 freeway in the area was just expanded to multiple lanes and freshly paved). The road was ultra smooth and I had the top off on my MB SLK55 AMG just cruising with literally just a few vehicles around. My laser unit went crazy for only a second and I looked and saw nothing ahead (Clinton Keith exit). So I maintained the same speed since it was on cruise control anyway. Then about 30 seconds later my laser unit went crazy again for only a second. By this time I saw a cruiser parked at the triangle area to the right on the on ramp shooting at me with his laser gun. So I tapped on the brake and let it be.......The cruiser gave chase and I pulled over. He came to me and asked me the usual questions to which I gave him the standard operating procedure answers very nicely. He then walked to the front of my car to check out something. He came back and said it is good thing I had my front license plate on the front bumper. I said thank you. He then said to me have a good night. I said the same to him. So a lot of times the LEO have a lot of discretion at his disposal.
Just to clarify, I do not have any laser jammers. But I did have a V-ONE at the time. I took it off my windshield very quickly when I pulled over (just don't let the LEO see you do it. Otherwise he will think you got something else and wanted to search or call in the K9 unit which will further delay you). Some LEOs do not like to see any radar/laser detectors. Even worse if they see you have a laser jammer. For sure you will get a ticket. I think the CHP who stopped me was looking for laser jammers on my car, but I did not have any.

Escort/Passport
The dealer will install a Passport 8500ci plus, that includes 2 laser shifters and a radar detector with a GPS unit to remember areas where you were detected. The reviews are good on this unit. I spoke with a police officer I know and he said that they are not illegal in Ohio. I only mentioned that I had a CDL because if I get too many points it will be a problem with my job. Over all it sounds like if you have a quality unit and common sense, then they can be helpful. Thanks for all the comments and advice.

I've always installed laser jammers on all my cars since my 2IS I bought in 06. They've helped me multiple times in avoiding speeding tickets. I have a set of Laser Interceptor jammers and Escort Passport for sell PM me if interested.

Here in Hawaii, the cops ONLY use laser.. thank god! I have a dual sensor front/rear Anti-Laser Priority system and let me tell you, IT WORKS PERFECTLY. Now there is no way that I would own a high performance car in this state without one. Worth every single penny.
