Default 2016 RC-F Exhaust Sound

Does anyone know why the exhaust sounds deeper in Sport plus mode? I looked at the mufflers and I don't see any valve that would change the sound coming from them, like what the Corvette uses. In normal and sport mode the sound is not the same to me. Any thoughts on this?

It's the artificial electronic piped in sound.

Normal and Sport Modes usually go higher in gears faster than Sport Plus. They like to go and stay in higher gears with less RPM. Sport Plus mode usually stays in gears 1-6. If you stay longer in the same gear, RPM will go up to 4k and up. The valves will open and offer a deeper or more louder sound. Plus the electronic piped sound as mentioned.

See the owner's manual under "ASC", personally like that it "helps the driver enjoy further enjoy the feeling of unity with the vehicle":

ASC (Active Sound Control)* (RC F)

The ASC system sonically emphasizes the vehicle’s response to the driver’s operation of the
accelerator pedal and shift lever or paddle shift switches. The dynamic engine sound enabled by
this system helps the driver further enjoy the feeling of unity with the vehicle, particularly when
driving in M mode. (P. 216)

■ The ASC system can be operated when
The driving mode select switch is in SPORT S+ mode. (P. 294)
