I have been wanting to order a CF hood from Lexus Japan but kind of hesitant because I'll probably be crying every time it gets a rock chip. Besides the clear film, is there any other way of protecting it ? I'm thinking a spray of clear urethane might give it some additional protection. What do you guys think?

Apply a thick layer of vaseline on everything you own that may be prone to rock chips. live a little.

And why would I use Vaseline on everything I own when I'm only asking about a CF hood? Very good tip though, thank you! I bet you use a lot of it!

^^^ Yikes chronic masturbatory reference. I feel your concern, tho. I got a nice little chip in my CF roof some months back, but the CF is embedded and coated in some type of resin or plastic, so the even though the chip was fairly deep it didn't hit the actual CF. I'm hoping I can get it filled in. I have also considered the CF hood, would look great I think and I would most likely get it done in PP film. On the other hand I accept the reality of driving the car on a daily basis - it's not going to stay perfect.

I think extra clearcoat followed by PPF and some ceramic coating sealant would be sufficient.

of course there's Nuthin' that's going to completely Guarantee you're not going to get that one big rock chip that hits your hood, but i agree with Ne1HeRe for the Most Protection. It also has a lot to do with the type of enviroment you usually drive in. Whether most of your driving is in the city or on country roads where there's log trucks & such (i see a lot of log trucks where i live) & just take ROK with a grain of salt, i imagine he doesn't come down from the mountain to often.
