Default How to make RC-F Louder

Have anyone of you seen this? Capping off the vacuum line that controls the intake sound, so it always stays open.

I'm sure many of you have. Did you notice a big change? I just did it, picked the car up yesterday so I don't have tons of experience on it to know if what I think I'm hearing is really different. Haven't changed it back to compare. Only have 60 miles on it.

In short. Questionable mod that might result in decreased performance. Others might argue, but I would put a few miles before doing any mods on this car. Let everything break in and make sure there aren't any real problems.

I just unplugged the control unit, does the same thing.

dropped 1.5 mpg doing it.

don't see a difference in performance via the butt dyno.

yes the intake is louder across the RPM range.

You might want to read this thread:

We ISF owners started asking this question 8 years ago. You really don't want to do this:

i did it for a week, and re-plugged it back on. dont know what i like more yet. it feels and sounds like two different cars. when its unplugged, it sounds like american muscle car constantly and loses the lexus smooth feel. but when its plugged, its too quiet unless gas peddle is floored. i didn't really see a drop in mpg as i floor the gas quite a bit.

try it out. doesnt hurt anything

Local Christian brother mechanic said I would let it break in a bit. Only have 125 miles. I don't see how it would make a difference when you do this.

I did it for a few days and noticed a slight decline in low end torque. It does sound good though!

I've gone back & forth with this. Even with this modified, nothing makes it sound better than putting it in sport s+ mode. It really makes it sound like a beast. Doing the mod & s+ may be overkill as you want it to sound like a lexus some times. I'm still trying to decide which way.

RED LINE: This is my first sports car. The RC-F's red line is electronically controlled and starts lower when you start it up and goes higher as the car warms up. Keeping you from red lining too high when the engine isn't fully warm. I think that is genius. Did the IS-F do this? Do most cars do this?

Lag..........look at the hyperlink someone posted a few threads above. I've done the mod, and immediately reveresed it within 24 hrs of doing it. It negatively affected performance.
