Paddles not working in second gear in manual mode
Has anyone else experienced this- I've had it happen on two different cars now.
Driving in normal mode and the transmission in auto. Once the car gets up to temp, (usually at a stop), move the gear selector to manual mode. If you punch it, I have not issues shifting from 1st to 2nd gear, but sometimes, the up shift paddle will need to be hit multiple times in 2nd before the car will shift to 3rd.
It seems to only happen the first time I go from auto mode to manual mode during a drive cycle.
It happens on my car and another car I test drove.

I run into this issue for the first 5-10 minutes of driving, sometimes it won't let me shift, in D mode, no issues. I am guessing there is a oil temperature it needs to reach before you can shift freely.
I seem to run into this in Sport+ mode where it won't let me shift to 7 until I have driven it for a while.

I thought S+ mode only used the first 6 gears. I didn't think it would ever go into 7 or 8.

But yes, before tranny (not engine) is at full operating temperature, shifting can be b*tchy. Once fully warmed up, it works just fine. And it also shifts much quicker and harder. I always drive in sport mode in manual, since sport+ makes the fake noise I don't like. Shift times are indentical in both modes while in manual, fortunately.

Until the oil, tranny fluid, and water are up to specific operating temperatures on cold days, you will not be able to use potimally use downshifts, blips, etc. I find it takes around 15 minutes to reach operating temps when it's below 30-degrees F outdoors.
