Default APEXi Smart Accel Controller: Weigh-In If Installed (Merged Threads)

I found this review by FR500GT on the RC350 page, but I'm specifically looking to hear from the RCF owners.

Looking for the following feedback:

1. How do you like it?
2. How much lag do you think is removed?
3. Where did you mount the rocker switch?
4. Where did you mount the control module?
5. Any tips/tricks regarding the 7 settings (besides "it's always on RED", lol)?

For those who don't know what this is, see the links below:

APEXi Smart Accel Controller: Part #: 10-A001

1. on a scale of 1 through 10, it's a 10 for me.
2. I'd say about 98 percent.
3. at the blank location below the rear spoiler switch.
4. under driver's side dash, to the left of steering column, there's a factory module mounted vertically, I mounted the module to that using high quality double stick tape.
5. I've only used RED

1-5 exactly the same as above.
No need to install the Reverse switch thing.
Takes less than 30 minutes to install.
Always on Red and Sport plus makes it a completely different car.
I turn it off in bumper to bumper traffic because the car literally wants to launch when touching the gas.

1. How do you like it?
I absolutely love it, makes it feel like the car actually has some low end punch
2. How much lag do you think is removed?
a substantial amount
3. Where did you mount the rocker switch?
where all of the oem switches are mounted, cut grooves in the top of the spare slot, attached the button and slid it back in
4. Where did you mount the control module?
under the steering column
5. Any tips/tricks regarding the 7 settings (besides "it's always on RED", lol)?
its always on red lol... red is the most linear power delivery, essentially just ramping up the stock configurations.

Thanks for your inputs everyone, I'm sold. I may however mount my switch in the glovebox if nobody else is ever using their buttons.

Just our 2 cents. We installed this on one of our customer's cars and we test drove it for an entire day. This thing is pretty awesome. For the low cost of the part to performance gains you experience, it's definitely worth it. Don't get me wrong, it's not a crazy amount of difference; however, just being able to feel a difference in acceleration response is well worth it. You can really tell a difference and having the multiple modes really helps out a lot. People may have different experiences but all in all, I've heard from others that it also helped them quite a bit as well.

We installed the switch on the lower right hand side right next to the steering column. Hope this helps!

Well keep in mind that you still have to press the button after you start the car in order to turn the Apexi TC on.

Nice thread to gather real-world feedback, and yes thank you to FR500GT's "DIY" in the RC forum.

Questions.

1. Anyone have any qualms about its use negatively impacting the wear/tear/reliability of the fuel pump?
2. Why so many modes - 7?
3. How do you enable/cycle through the modes and know which mode you're in?
4. Anyone do a 0-60 run and notice any difference over stock?

Questions.
most, if not all of your questions would be answered by looking at the product page...

1. Anyone have any qualms about its use negatively impacting the wear/tear/reliability of the fuel pump?
Absolutely not. All the apexi controller does is increase the throttle position in a linear line vs stock (in red mode). It does not go above or beyond WOT
2. Why so many modes - 7?
some of the modes are eco friendly, others bring the throttle position up as a non-linear relationship such as the boost modes which I personally did not enjoy.
3. How do you enable/cycle through the modes and know which mode you're in?
The throttle controller button changes colors as you press it
4. Anyone do a 0-60 run and notice any difference over stock?
I have not, however it does feel as if it would. Although I believe 0-60 stock vs apexi would be similar as you are apply WOT right off the hop.
