Default Radar Detector of Choice for RC F?

I just ordered the Escort Max 360 with Escort Live. What are others using? The unit has two receivers and provides the driver with multidirectional threat information and up to 4 bandwidth detections at one time.

I use my eyeballs and don't break traffic laws. :-)

never had the need for a radar detector. haven't had a ticket since 1991.

well yeah you're in PA. NY, NJ, PA, DE, all radar laden cop havens. I used to spend a lot of time in that area for work, 3-4 times a year for a month at a shot, amazing to me how different it is than Socal with respect to traffic cops.

in Socal, not so much. . hell I can be doing 75 in a 55 and get passed by a LEO giving me a thumbs up.. most LEOs here (aside from the highway patrol) don't like traffic duty and don't bother unless you are being a real ***.

Nice choice on the Max360, I really like its plug and play capabilities. But if lasers are your concern, might wanna look into some laser jammers also. The Max360 will alert you of incoming lasers but by that time it's too late. If you don't know if they're legal in your area, check out RDForum.org. There's tons of info on there and lots of reviews of all the latest radar detectors as well.

Let us know how you like it. I like the V1 because of both the arrows and that you can deactivate any band you want (I have X and K deactivated). That's the only way I get zero false alarms, and since police only use Ka and laser around here, perfect solution. Laser is useless as a warning, only notifying you a ticket is coming. But thankfully, it's only used by motor cops here, and has to be stationary, meaning only city use. I hardly drive in the city, so no issues. But the day laser becomes more mainstream and can be used as radar's instant-on, the days of radar detectors will probably be over. By then, highways will be so messed up that you won't be able to speed even if you can. Below is my radar mount that can be used with any radar detector.

I got Max360 also. I like the 360 directional arrows that it has. You can tell if the radar is coming from the front, left or right and back of your car. The only time I experienced a laser threat in person was when I had the max escort and I was traveling from SD to LA on a fwy. I got the warning less than a mile and noticed the cop was standing outside of his motorcycle telescoping people... Lol! I haven't had any experience yet with the max360 but I hope it's a lot farther than max escort... Plus, there were a lot of cars so, idk if the signals were blocked... Oh yea, Pre-Orders of MAX360 came with ticket protection if you got a ticket with the use of the cops laser/radar devices, Escort will reimburse you... So, that's a good thing...

Without crossing the line to promote misbehavior, I will say the new unit is amazing. I left behind the Passport 9500ix--a great unit in my opinion. The Max 360 is 3 seconds faster, and that speed paid off big time today for me. I received the k-band warning a mile or so in advance and had plenty of time to react. The Max already provided me with a huge savings today.

The device is nicely manage via blue tooth with Escort Live on my iPhone and does not interfere with any other blue tooth operations, including the music, in the F. It learns and lock out spurious signals, and also is able to identify and filter out anti-collision systems on cars.

$700 is a lot for a detector, but if you are a "sporting" driver, it just may be this is the right device for you. The Valentine has far too many false alerts, the design is old, and it does not offer GPS, speed/red light cameras, programmable speed warnings, and the modern design. The Escort Live app on the iPhone or Android allows you to easily customize all settings, select bands, limits, warnings, etc. It also has a map that shows where constables are hanging out based on locks and observations made by other Escort Live users.

At this point I have to recommend the unit to those in the market for this kind of device.

Couldn't stomach listening to that guy for over a minute. Plus you shouldn't try 2 detectors next to each other anyway. But I take your testimonial seriously. I got to the point of disabling both X and K bands on my V1, leaving only Ka and laser (this one is useless). So basically just Ka, which is the most prevalent around highways here in the desert southwest. But if that Max360 is as sophisticated as it sounds, might get one of those. I still get Ka and laser false warnings every once in a while, possibly from radar cruise vehicles and/or laser pedestrian detection, I'd guess. Does that new radar detector eliminate those as well? Thx.

The Max 360 is GPS enabled, so it automatically blocks out known false alert locations based on the exact location and frequency. It will "learn" your route and eventually lock out false alerts if their locations and frequency are identical from day to day.

It is also programmed with Escort’s new collision avoidance sensor rejection digital signal processing algorithm (DSP). That enables it to block most false alerts caused by vehicle guidance systems/collision avoidance systems (CAS).

It's the best unit that I've ever used, and you will get far fewer false alerts in comparison to the V1.

As for any other false signals, once you are certain the signal is spurious, you can push a button on the box to lock it out. You always have the ability to unlock signals as well. More advanced users can observe the GHz on the display as well.

There are a lot of sensitivity adjustments that I have yet to explore with the unit.

Thanks a lot man. The most annoying false alert on K band is from school buses all around this area. Don't know what the heck is triggering that. Maybe GPS locators? Do you know if your unit can block those out? I thought my V1 was 'smart' enough to detect those are not police radar, but it's not. So disabled the darn band, along with X. Didn't want to disable the K band because some places use an 'extended K' band radar, but it's a small price to pay to avoid the incessant false alerts.

I wonder if it is a CAS. I have been by plenty of school buses, and I've not received any signals. I am enabling K, Ka, Laser, and TSR (Traffic Sensor Rejection) at this time.

I will check it out again this weekend.

All the reviews I read about the Escort 360 weren't favorable. I wish Valentine would update theirs as it's still considered the best out there.
