RC-F Fuel Pump
#391
Had my 5,000 mile service today. I haven't had any issues, but I asked about the ECU update. They said they would not recommend doing anything unless I was having an issue and they can reproduce it.

Find another dealership for the service. Lexus should provide the ECU update to ALL RC Fs. It enhances performance.

That's akin to a doctor telling you to keep on smoking until it starts bothering you.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Thanks, pal.

I got my "fix" when I went in for 15k services.....
I notice the car is smoother with is powerband, the "lag" is gone, and the bouncy idle is gone too. I added my exhaust about a month or so prior to the fix. I know the car learns and I drive hard. Yet, after the new ECU reflash, things just smoothed out.

Hey guys! I've combed through the thread and couldn't find the TSB number...could one of you please repost it so I can contact my dealer. Never had a noise/pump issue, but the lag is definitely present. My work has had me slammed the past few months so I haven't been able to follow the forums like I wish I could. Thank you.

Not feeding the TROLL or anything, this is not about cancer. This is about a fuel pump not liking to be ran at certain low duty cycle/voltage/frequency. Our pumps are most likely PWM controlled to prolong service life, but somehow, the setting was low enough that some of them start to hum after they're put into service.

The pursuit of F
Yes I did get the ECU update yesterday and will keep thread updated. see post #390 for some details and audio recordings.
BTW, for Canadian owners, my Service Manager said the TSB is not yet available for Canada but is aware it's out in the US and will likely be out soon for us.

Thanks for the update. Putting aside volume differences, I can't reliably decipher differences in sound before and after the ECU update from the .wav files you attached. Mine here almost sounds like your before state, but my dealer said this sound is normal.

I can here it in the recording but I know what to listen for. After driving 1000s of miles with it coming and going you know what to listen for. Its irritating. I am glad it has stopped with this high air temp and/or the ECU update
