Default Rc-f news thread

Automotive artist Wild-Speed has created a rendering of the rumored 600 horsepower twin-turbo Lexus RC FS coupe by merging the “standard” RC F with elements of the LFA Nürburgring Edition.

The rumor of this ultra-performance coupe comes from Motor Trend, who suggest the RC FS will arrive in 2017 with a price tag of $120,000 USD.

Default Lexus to Introduce Manual Transmission RC F & IS F?

Lexus may release a IS F and RC F with a manual transmission, according to recent Motoring Australia interview with Toyota Motorsport GmbH (TMG) business operations director Rob Leupen:

One project Leupen revealed was the development of what he called a manual-shift gearbox (presumably a dual clutch) for the new generation RC F/IS F drivetrain. He also mentioned development of hybrid technology for the next generation IS F using a manual-shift gearbox.

“That car might be two or three years away but when it does come you will find it has been developed by TMG.”

Considering the source, this could be a major new announcement — offering a manual transmission with the IS F & RC F would be a huge boost to Lexus’ performance credibility, especially if it’s a new dual-clutch gearbox. If true, this would be very exciting news.

(Also, did Leupen just confirm that there will be a new IS F?)

Default 600 Horsepower Lexus RC FS Coming in 2017?

In 2017 you can expect to see a super version of the RC F packing the 600-hp twin-turbo V-8. Think of it as an Infiniti Eau Rogue-fighter with a price tag to match — about $120,000. However, since Johan de Nysschen has left Infiniti, it’s doubtful the Eau Rogue will see the light of day. So think of the Super RC F as a C63 AMG Black Series-fighter. Seeing as how the Benz cost about $110,000 and “only” made 510 hp, $10K more for 600 hp (or more) makes sense.

We’re hearing RC FS as the name, with “FS” becoming Lexus’s answer to AMG’s Black Series and (Audi) Quattro GmbH’s RS.
The LFA V10 engine was a blessing and a curse — it made a statement that Lexus was serious about performance, but cost so much money that there was no way to use it another car.

That’s why more than anything here, I hope this 600 horsepower engine rumor is true, and that it’s used in every model where it makes sense (RC, SC, LS, GS).

(One thing I don’t understand — wouldn’t the rumored SC F with this engine be called the SC FS?)

Default First Lexus RC F GT3 Racecar Spotted in Japan

You might be tempted to say that you saw this car already competing in those Japanese GT series, where it also debuted with a victory. You might be a bit confused them, because this is not the Lexus RC F GT500, but the RC F GT3 version, and one of the first units have been already spotted in Japan.

Both of these Stormtroopers made their debut at this year’s Tokyo Motor Show in their concept form. But while the RC F GT500 already started racing, the GT3 counterpart is still under testing, following to enter competition in 2015.

Since its debut in Tokyo, the RC F GT3 almost disappeared from our radar, but luckily, Japanese publication Auto Sport spotted one of its first track versions being shipped somewhere for further testing.

The racecar was carefully strapped into a big trailer and off it went, with rumors that three units will also be introduced in the Japanese GT300 series.

To differentiate the RC F GT3 from the GT500 version, you’ll firstly need to study its shape - the GT3 is basically the road-going RC F with a wide-bodykit, while the GT500 version is based more on the Lexus LF-CC concept car; it’s hood is less bulged and it has two huge air inlets sculpted in it.

Another big difference between the two racecars is their engines - due to new regulations, the RC F GT500 is powered by a turbocharged 2-liter four-cylinder engine making somewhere around 500 horsepower.

The RC F GT3 on the other hand is powered by an upgraded version of its road-going V8 engine, making over 540 hp and mated to an 8-speed gearbox controlled via steering wheel mounted paddle shifters.

Default Lexus' 450HP RC F V8 Priced from £59,995 in the UK

In a poll we posted earlier this year, the BMW M4 won your vote over the Lexus RC F, but now it's time for people to put their money where they mouth is.

In Britain, the new RC F coupe is priced slightly higher than the BMW M4 Coupe (£56,635 for the manual, £59,135 for the DCT), with the base model starting from £59,995 and the Carbon edition from £67,995 OTR.

Both versions of the RC F are powered by a 5.0-liter naturally-aspirated V8 delivering "more than" 450bhp and 520Nm, matched to an eight-speed Sports Direct Shift automatic transmission driving the rear wheels.

Standard features across the range include 19-inch wheels, Brembo brakes, LED headlights, a 10-speaker multimedia system with DAB, DVD player, Remote Touch touchpad control and navigation, dual-zone climate control, Drive Mode Select, plus a raft of safety systems such as eight airbags, Lane Departure and Rear Cross Traffic Alert.

Other notable standard goodies include leather sport seats, front and rear parking sensors, electric steering column adjustment and keyless Smart Entry.

The RC F Carbon Edition adds a torque-vectoring differential, CFRP (carbon fibre-reinforced plastic) roof, bonnet and rear spoiler, unique 19-inch forged alloy wheel design, Alcantara upholstery and a higher-end Mark Levinson Surround Soundsystem.

I don't like the "FS" moniker and assume it will be something different if this project comes to fruition.

I wish they'd do something like "Blue Label" and make each of the cars have signature "F" blue stitching and accents. Or "RC FA" - like LFA - meaning F "Alpha" or something.

Who knows?

It would be a good BMW 4-Series Gran Coupe competitor.

RC-F has been winning a lot of GT500 races against the NSX and GTR. However, they are so far removed from the production versions (with 2.0 Liter high-revving turbo engines).

But, then again, Gazoo Lexus LFA close to production version stomps all over Nissan GTRs at the Nurburgring 24-hours race every year consistently.
