Who would order a moonroof with the Torque Vectoring Differential (TVD)?
As a former Toyota manufacturing engineer based in Saitama, Japan, I fully understand the need to balance option selection with costs and profit margin. While I still think that Lexus should emulate Porsche and other German OEMs and offer buyers a la carte options, I'm not holding my breath.
If they can force us to take a $7000 package just to get the TVD, why would they give that up?
I for one am ready to order the RC F, and I think the TVD is a must have. The car was obviously designed to have it, and will undoubtedly increase turn in, reduce understeer, etc. I think it will also improve winter driving traction, which is admittedly what I am interested in. (I'm not going to track the car - can't afford reducing engine life and replacing tires and brakes every other track day.)
Anyway, my biggest gripe is that in order to get the TVD you must forgo the moonroof.
Since Lexus has still not finalized the options, I wanted to start a poll to see how many of you WOULD get the MOONROOF + TVD.
Perhaps we can influence Lexus to offer the TVD with the Performance package or even in the base car (which comes std with a moonroof).

I've had moonroof in my current and previous cars, and I NEVER open the glass nor the sun shade. Just extra weight and reduced headroom. Useless option AFAIK, and so glad it's not in the RC F carbon.

I would like to have a loaded RC-F without the carbon package, but a TVD as a stand alone option.
Moonroof is not a big deal to me. My XRS has it and I barely ever use it. It raises the center of gravity anyway.

Agreed! I think the point is that a la carte options need to be offered.
The point is that some people want a moonroof, others don't.
GIVE US THE ABILITY TO CHOOSE, LEXUS.
Or run the risk of losing buyers.
I for one must have a moonroof and must have the traction benefits of the TVD.
Guess I'm out of luck…
Hmmm the 2015 C63 AMG is looking better and better.

I'm sure Lexus' thinking is that someone who really wants a sports car would prefer the structural integrity of not having a moon roof. I don't think you can get one at all on a Porsche Cayman.
With that said, I always use mine in my GS. My Audi A5 S-Line had only a moonroof that tilted, so I traded it after a while for an S5 Cab. I like the sunlight. I would want both TVD and a moonroof. We have some nice days here in Dallas (when it's not 110 degrees). If I lived in Seattle I wouldn't care.
