I want to have a dedicated sports car with a V8 as a second car that i can have for awhile, therefore reliability is important. I also want to buy new although i do look for 2011+ CPO M3s with Comp pack but prices on those are still in the $50k range. For a lil more i rather get something new.
The RCF is tops on my list bec its got a V8, looks great, and will be reliable. The potentially high price and lack of "brand" name/support are the negatives for me.
Other options:
M4 - Not feeling the new M4 but need to see it in person to know for sure.
Corvette is ehhh....styling is not my cup of tea plus i need rear seats for my baby.
Mustang GT - definitely on my list but not if it has same crappy build quality as current one.
Supra - prob still years away if ever
911- too much $$$
BRZ/FRS - needs 50hp, love the car

This really boils down to two cars for me, the M4 and the RCF. What's kind of funny for me is I see people buying the M4 because it's more subtle visually compared to the RCF. Yeah the M4 may be lighter and will probably out perform the RCF in some ways but Lexus is a solid built car with a lot of excitement in all aspects. This will boil down to looks for a lot of people and Lexus should pay attention. Vanity is a very powerful thing and BMW plays heavily on those heart strings...
Apples and oranges. I expect the RCF to break into the 3s. It has a superior look, sound and, most likely, exceptional track performance.

I don't expect 0-60 times to be class leading but I do expect handling and steering communication to be. Honeslty 0-60 in low 4s is more than enough for me and Lexus seems to be exceptional at balance (the FRS as well) where the chassis, steering and power work in harmony and nothing overpowers or feels at a loss. I have stated the GS/IS would be amazing with 350hp as the chassis is just a hoot so 450hp in a smaller package with rear torque vectoring and a true track mode is just making me drool

I am definitely considering the RC F, but I'm also very interested in the future Toyota FT-1 (supra?), Porsche Boxter S, or Alfa Romeo 4C, and even the dare i say it… the new Corvette Z07. I'm Wanting a lighter track car than my IS F, so not sure the RC F will be that… :-( although it looks to be a nice car.
