Take the extended warranty or Not
Hi All,
I am waiting for mu custom built Lexus RC350 F Sport and wanted to get input weather or not to consider and extended warrant.
It seems this gives you another 20K mikes and 2 more years. I know that you can get some sort of a deal on the price.
To me it is a safe guard and who can say if it would be ever used.
Thanks -Alrozrc350

Hi Garyw622- Can you mention the dealer or not regarding the mentioned extended warranties above?
Question - and using the first one as an example: So if the original warranty is 4yrs or 50,000 miles, the first example
is extending that to 100,000 or 4 Yrs? Also, are these warranties the same for the RC350 models?
Thanks -Alrozrc350

When you are comparing prices and terms, you also should look at the policy itself to determine the extent of the coverage; some have exclusions (electrical and electronic are common) that limit application, making them less expensive. The brochures are not contracts, and can be misleading.

AAA also carries warranties, and for a really good price. I would not buy the extended warranty until you car is close to being out of warranty otherwise you are paying for something that is not being used. The AAA extended warranty that I bought for my Wife's Lexus covered everything in the car for 4 years. Just food for thought.

Hi GearHead69- So if I wait until I met my mileage or years, purchase the extended warranty then? Example: if the extended gives another 2 yrs or 20,000 miles, would I not get this
when purchasing the car on top of 4 yrs/50,000 making the actual coverage 6yrs /70,000 miles?
Also, the AAA policy, isn't this consider a 3rd party plan and may not pay for various repairs as a Lexus plan would? I heard some stories regarding not purchasing
a Lexus extended plan.

What do I base this claim one, my father was a car salesman for over 20 years. He said that selling an extended warranty at the time of purchase was the highest grossing profit that the dealer got other than the mystical paint protection package.

When you purchase an extended warranty it starts from the time you purchase it, and since your car already has a 4 year bumper-to-bumper warranty why purchase it at the beginning. With regard to third party warranty plans not being taken by Lexus, that may be true, but with AAA it is taken as it is a respected plan. How do I know, I purchased one for my wife's 2004 Lexus ES330 when we bought it used at 56,000 miles, and it covered everything just like the OEM plan did. We had speakers replaced, window motors, the stereo head unit, water pump, alternator, and various other things. Do your homework, and purchase one just before it goes out of warranty otherwise the car salesperson really took you for a ride and really took your money.
