Question about Memory Recall w/ Keys
#16
Lead Lap
I found this on pg 159 of the 2015 owners manual. Works great. Now I lock the car and when I return, I just touch the door handle to unlock, then when the door is opened, the seat retracts to seat position 3 for entry. Happy camper.

No, it only moves to the paired memory position, when door is unlocked via touch or Smart Key.

I use a method that might solve the issue where the seat is too far forward when entering the vehicle.
The seat will retract when the door is unlocked with the Smart Key.
Unfortunately... you still have to select your seat position 1 or 2 after being seated.
So it is not hands free as I would prefer.
SC430 auto-retracted wheel and seat upon exit and returned when key inserted, as we don't have a key to insert.
Pairing a Seat Position Button with a Smart Key
Button Settings:
Program seat button:1 to driver:1 preferred position (This driver uses Smart Key:1)
Program seat button:2 to driver:2 preferred position (This driver uses Smart Key:2)
Program seat button:3 to "seat out of the way" (all the way back, and or reclined as needed)
This method assigns a single "Smart Key" to the action "Unlock Door = Press Seat Button:3"

- Enter the vehicle with only Smart Key:1
- Start the car
- Press the "Door Unlock Button" and the "Seat 3 Button" simultaneously and hold until you hear a second beep. This assigns the "Unlock Door = Seat Button 3" to local Smart Key
- Repeat for Driver:2, Smart Key:2
to me this is rather silly.
I don't need the seat to move back when I get in the car, I need it to move back when I exit the car.
once it is retracted when I exit it stays that way until I am in the car again.
the issue Radical350 seems to face is that his key is programmed to move the seat to his preferred memory position, when he unlocks the car it moves the seat before he enters the car. regardless of whether he uses the fob or the touch system.
I use #3 as the exit setting, it stays there until I get back in my car and start it, then mine moves to the #1 position, my key is programmed to the #1 position, but only moves the seat once I start the car IF I used the touch feature.
If I use the fob and press the unlock then my seat moves to the #1 position BEFORE I enter the car, which is stupid.
as tight as the RC front area is the car should have come with an auto retract setting for the seat, and it should NOT move the seat until the car is started.
and a side note, if I put the car into gear before the seat has completed moving to the memory location it stops.

It's only silly if you are the "only" driver. If you have a wife or girlfriend who also drives the car, her seat position will likely be much more forward. soooooooooooo when you try to enter, the seat will not be where you want it ... (hence the reason for moving the seat to position 3 on Entry AND Exit)

My wife also drives my car and uses memory #2 and uses memory #3 to exit so it makes no difference who drives the car it is always in the #3 retracted position when car is parked.
