The RC200t will be a slow disappointment. Seems like many on the IS forum are kinda surprised of how slow and laggy the IS200t is, so add a heavier car and the results aren't going to be pretty. Plus, putting a smaller engine will make it cheaper, more accessible to some people (people who could care less about performance), and makes the car more common, which is sad.
Well, the RX200T is pretty peppy with very slightly less power so Id assume the RC200t would be just as peppy. However, the RX uses the 6 speed which launches better than the 8 speed used on the IS200T and RC200T - it takes ages to set off from a standstill.
As an enthusiast and RC owner, I hate that Lexus is putting cheaper versions of my car out. They will be everywhere.
As a salesman, I am thrilled to have a cheaper version to sell.
Is it easier to mod the turbo engine? Or is it locked up as the 3.5V6?
The key to turbo is the engine management system. You still won't be able to crack it. No one has, don't believe anyone will. Adding bigger turbo still needs tuning. Can't do it.
Only thing you can do is swap out the engine with one you can tune.
