Default Rock Chips in lower part of front grill of RC350 Fsport

HI

i was wondering what others are doing about the damage done by rock chips that hit the lower part of the front grill. The part on the bottom that is metallic looking. I have the Ultra white and the bottom part looks kind of goldish metallic looking color. I noticed today a few tiny little chips on it and my car is only a week old.

Normally if it was the regular painted portion I would just touch it up. But this part because it is metallic looking, it cannot be touched up.

So I have not seen any posts about this, so I was wondering what others are doing.. I thought about just having this portion wrapped. Since my car is leased I am not interested in spending hundreds to wrap the whole front end. but thought about just wrapping that small portion.

thoughts??

The chipping will only get worse.
I wrapped mine. It really helps.
Used Xpel stealth. looks like it's not even there.

ok I am going to call this place near my house that does this tomorrow. I really hadn't thought about it until I saw a few little chips there. What a dumb design.

Just going to wrap that portion

Did you wrap that portion or the whole front bumper? What did it run you?

3 things about rock chips:

1) Get a clear bra installed on areas prone to chipping

2) DO NOT tail gate!!! This is the #1 reason why chips are attacking your front end

3) Accept the fact that despite a clear bra and not tail gating, you will receive some rock chips over the lifetime of the car. Someone will cut in front of you or across a median sending rocks flying in your front end and/or the rocks will hit that millimeter spot that the clear bra doesn't cover, etc.

The goal is to mitigate the occurrence of rock chips not eradicate them completely. The only way to do that is to not drive the car at all.

thank you for your reply.

yes i do understand that ,and i do know the clear bra won't stop them from happening. i do not tail gate either. If this part of the car could be touched up, i would just do that, but it can't. so i will just install a clear bra that on that small portion.

How about a chip like that. Some kid sat on my tow hook license plate frame and bent it and put a hole in my bumper

I also scratched the lower part of my bumper the metallic part but im not sure if that kid continued and damaged it more

I wrap that part when I installed clear bra to the bumper, head lights, side mirrors, along with the door handle housing. But only the parts in discussion was done with Xpel stealth. Other parts were done with regular Xpel, and yes, you can wrap just that part.

I went to Advance Auto Engineering in Cerritos to get it done. I can't remember what the price was for that particular part, because I decided at the last minute to do it ala carte. Go ahead and give them a call. Scott is very nice and will explain thoroughly. They did an excellent job.

hi

thanks everyone for your replies

i got it wrapped today. looks perfect. i just wanted that part wrapped because its a lease and i already put a lot into it. for the other chips, dr. color chip will have to do his magic. at least now i don't have to look at black dots on that metallic strip.

they wrapped it with xpel ultimate.

What would be cool is someone sold a pre-cut kit for us to do a DIY. It should be a super easy thing to do.
