Default Saying Hello/Nav/Seat mem/Sport mode question

Hi everyone! Just joined this forum. I just traded in my 2013 RX450h (Premium package) and got myself a RC350 with Luxury package. I love the car so far but noticed a few things and hoping to find some answers here

BTW, I did search the forum but couldn't find related topics. So here are my questions:

- I can set my seat memory, but is there a way to enable it in such a way that if I turn off the ignition the seat reclines back and if I turn it on the seat reclines forward to saved settings? In my RX this was possible (I had driver position programmed in L1), so that when I tuned on ignition the L1 settings was recalled. When I turned off the ignition the seat went back. Anyone knows if this is possible to do in RC350?

- Now most annoying of all: The Navigator Voice has a very limited volume and does not lower the music when it comes on. So I have to have my music tuned down in order to hear the Navigation direction. I have ML sound/Nav system. In my RX (with only a Premium package) the music volume automatically lowered when Navigation Voice would come on. Has anyone else experienced this and has a solution? My dealer agreed that this is annoying and tried everything. But finally suggested that I post a note about it here. They will also raise this issue as a red flag with Lexus.

- When I put the Sport mode on, there is a bit of lag when I start driving from a stop, like red light. I press the accelerator and there is a light hesitation, then as I push more the car starts moving fast. Has anyone observed this?

- So are fog lights a separate option? I thought Luxury package automatically included them!

Thanks everyone for your help,

Regards.

Seat Memory > page 157
Sport Mode (specifically engine performance) > page 181
"...This is due to automatic up-shifting control or down-shifting implementation to meet driving conditions."

To your other two questions...
- According to the Lexus site, LED Fog Lamps do not appear to be included in the Luxury Package and would be a $410 add-on. You may want to double-check with your dealer as it also notes that some packages are different depending upon where you purchased your car.
- I have actually always enjoyed the feature of the music volume automatically lowering when the Nav voice comes on. If this is not the case with your car, and your dealer cannot find a resolution, you may want to head over to the Customer Service section of the forums as I know the Lexus folks there are quick to respond.

I hope this has been helpful, and once again - welcome!

Fog lamps are included in the F sport; not luxury package. you can change volume for the navigation system in "settings".

Hi ZeroG,

Thanks for your reply. Oh yes, I've gone through the User manual multiple times. So did the Dealer! The max volume for NAV is 7 which I have set it to. But Music does not lower when NAV kicks on. You mentioned that in your car the music volume lowers when NAV comes on, do you also have an RC350? In that case my car may have an issue. Thank you for providing the link though.

Also on the seat memory, I can record it in one of L1 through L3 and recall it. I was just wondering if there is a setting that can automate it when you trun off/on the ignition. I did not see any reference to that in the user manual.

Thanks for other info regarding the fog lights and Sport mode

Cheers,
Cybrnaut

I have the Luxury Package and the NAV system among other things, and the foglamps were a separate $410 option.
As for the NAV voice, I noticed that right away, and my previous two Lexus cars would lower the radio volume when announcing directions. At first, I found this annoying because it was different, but now I have the option to pay attention to whichever I want. Some of the spoken commands are annoying and unnecessary, and I used to miss little McNuggets of my McRadio show during those events, so I consider this a wash.
If you can't hear the NAV voice over the radio or the music, your music is way too loud, in which case one solution is to turn it down, the other is to remember that there is a replay button that will repeat the last spoken direction. I don't think that there is any setting for lowering the volume automatically.
As for the seats, some Lexus vehicles have a setting to move the seat back when the engine is stopped, but the RC does not. I asked the tech specialist at my dealership, and we went to my car so he could set that up for me, and he was surprised that the RC did not have that feature, which would be especially nice, considering the large bolsters which hit your butt when the seat is too high or too close to the wheel.
How disappointing it is to find out that the car was not designed the way I would have designed it for myself.

Hi tfischer,

Thanks for your reply. Yeap, my dealer were as surprised as I was about the Nav volume.
But of course I cannot listen to Metallica in low volume!! Seriously though, no, my music is not too loud! I should not have to sacrifice enjoying listening to my music in order to hear the NAV, especially when my previous Lexus with less features had this capability! I have had to turn down the radio to catch the Nav commands. Especially once the car gets going I really have to turn the music down. To me this is unacceptable from a Luxury and high end package. Unfortunately I found it out after I had got the car.

I'll be playing with Volume levelizer today to see if that helps in higher speeds. Thanks for pointing me to the replay button... My dealership is actually escalating the issue with NAV volume to Lexus dealer because they as well think that it may push away some potential customers from RC.

On the Seat memory, I actually figured out that if I record and register the seat memory to my FOB then when I use the smart unlocking (touching the handle) the seat will automatically go to that position. I guess that is somewhat useful.

I've raised these issue on Lexus Customer Service forum and we'll see what Lexus does. I believe the NAV volume issue should be fixable by just modifying and updating the Firmware. Hopefully Lexus engineers can see the value in doing that.

Cheers,
Cybrnaut
