It's simply just screwed on. If you feel it tight at the 2'o clock position but not at the 12'o clock position, what I suggest is unscrew it all and add one or two layers of pipe thread tape to the stainless stick. When you screw it back on it will feel tighter. Good luck.

EDIT: pull the boot down (it's clipped) before unscrewing.

The **** is wired tied on from underneath. Wired tied to the boot. If you can tighten it down with **** pointed in correct position. Then hold **** with one hand and use the other to turn back the leather boot until the stitching realigns. It's tough to do because of that wire tie but can be done.
The only other way to remove it, is as one unit. **** with leather boot attached. To do this you must remove the base of the leather boot by prying up the rectangular base. It's molded / attached at the base of the boot. I broke my getting it out but was able to reinstall it and snapping back in place the broken joint. Like brand new now. Except for the F-Sport **** I installed.
The safest way to remove is actually the most time consuming way. Remove entire console and remove boot / **** from underneath.

Why worry about anything while under warranty . Bring it in, get a loaner , have some fun , get fixed vehicle back

How long do you think it would take the dealer to fix this? I may just hang around until it's done if its not a big job.

I'll just wait till I get back to Dallas to get it fixed. I am in Missouri right now, and the nearest lexus dealer is 150 miles away

Here is how you tighten it. Then just pull it back up to snap it back in.

I have a 2015 IS250 AWD and had the same issue on the loose shifter ****. I could turn it almost 180 degrees. I took to the Lexus service and got fixed (probably within 10 to 15 minutes). Seems to me a finish issue for this generation IS/RC.

Seems to be a common issue. This was the case with mine and I took it in and they had it fixed within 30 minutes.
