I think the M3/4 will easily match that with a light tune. more torque, higher redline.

You can achieve any number by cheating (forced induction)

If BMW is so good why didn't they make a compelling Naturally Aspirated V8? Exactly coz they just cannot cut it and had to opt out for the easy path.

So does this mean 460hp for the RCF and the 478hp rumor is for the GSF?

They already did and it was the 414 hp 4.0 V8...

The older 4.0 V8 was essentially bespoke having only shared technology and engine architecture with the now discontinued and very limitedly produced 5.0 V10 found in the last generation M5/M6.

This new 3.0 twin turbo shares little to no common technology with BMWs current 3 liter Inline-6.

I wouldn't rule out the new M3/M4's twin turbo I6 which is likely highly underrated nor the RC-F and it's 460 horses. I feel that the RC-F will have a better chassis but acceleration will likely be in the M3/M4's favor.

M3 / M4 chassis is said to have 50% unique parts in comparison to standard F30 / F32.

You can see most of the features / specs here:

http://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=923203

They've already done high power, high reving NA motors. But that's like saying why can't Lexus match their entry level 4 cylinder without doing having to do a new 2.0t. Let's appreciate what both are doing.

New M3/ M4 will be beasts and hopefully the RC-F equally impresses.

so with around 460hp, I hope lexus will design this car to have light weight as much as possible w/ light weight material technology like aluminum chassis, carbon fiber ...etc. to keep it at under 3,400 lbs. That would be in the same ball park with m4 and c7. Man, can't wait to see more specs. Like the HP so far

I was hoping for 478hp in the RC-F and then 560hp in the GS-F (detuned TMG650 turbo motor) and then the 640hp TMG motor in the LS-F.

Imagine chrome grill inserts in CF. Not gonna happen obviously as teaser shows but still a cool idea.

RCF with 460hp is more than enough esp that its from NA V8 compared to the M3/4

I think what may hold it back is the lack of a DCT and manual option. Standard automatics are fine for GT cars but not enough for true performance geared cars.

Comparing to similar BMW competition, the *rumored* 460 HP for the upcoming RC-F would be neat (considering that the previous ISF has 416HP and the newly-released M3 and M4 have 430 HP)

However, 478 HP for a GS-F is NOT GOING TO CUT IT..........especially given that the competitors in this segment (BMW M5, Jaguar XFR, Audi RS6/RS7, MB E63 AMG, etc.) have MORE THAN 500 HP

The GS-F NEEDS TO HAVE AT LEAST 500 HP minimum to compete in that segment. Otherwise, it will be left behind...

I think it's both good and bad. Even more people would probably go with a 335i. At least with the older motor, the people just supercharged it and it's gg.

Having an ISF myself, it was nice doing headers and having decent gains. The hp for the RCF is so similar to an ISF with headers that I am led to think that no meaningful mods are possible for more power (apart from if you have a vehicle with a Japanese ecu)

Once Lexus realizes that a sub-500 HP GSF will be a total flop, I'm sure they'll fix things for the 2nd generation.
