Default Lexus trademarks RC350 in Australia for the upcoming LF-CC-based coupe

As reported by LexusEnthusiast. Surprised that a hybrid version isn't trademarked at the same time since the LF-CC is a hybrid. The mystery now is what the letter R can possibly stand for. I personally would've preferred Lexus to stick to either G or I depending on which segment they position this car in. The letter R should be reserved for the RX.

Alternatively, if the letter "R" is really named logically, it should follow the same relationship between the LX and the LS, to denote to models of the same caliber. In this case, the RC350 could very well be a coupe'ish version of the RX a la the X6 and the ZDX. It's a wild guess but a logical one.

Arguable. While it may have the same relationship as LX/LS and GX/GS, it doesn't necessarily make "R"C a coupe-like crossover. LS and GS are sedans with sedan-dedicated platforms, so based on this relationship, I can say RC (if it ever make into production) is not a crossover based vehicle.

Based on Lexus lettering, xC will be coupe, while xx C will be convertible.

it is confusing.... I dont see what RC would have to do with IS. Or RWD.
When you tell me it is Lexus RC, i think of RX.

But what about when you hear about GS? You think of GX? They are not correlated beside "G" as a medium sized vehicle in the Lexus lineup.

^ I think RC Cola.

Not feeling the name. A potential RC F sounds ridiculous.

I can see this. Lexus wasn't sure was to call it GS or something else. They did not want to use Gsc or ISc since the c is used for convertibles.

LS is to LX like GS is to GX in comes R(S)(C)?? to RX... Plausible? Though the vehicles may not be related other than by name, their position in the Lexus line up are the same in the Car/SUV segments

Large Medium Small...............smaller?
LX/LS GX/GS RX/RS
