What do you expect from the company that named its car "CT"?

X is the designator for crossovers

Do people think of the GX when GS is mentioned?

That's what I said. Either that or the GC350, although in that case it might as well be the SC350, since the SC was GS-based.

It's the other way around for me--I think of the GS when the GX is mentioned, and the LS when the LX is mentioned. I guess it comes down to which model came first. The RX came first in this case and unfortunately that gives the RC an unsporty, FWD-biased vibe to me.

RC
SC
?C (well ok not tC lol)

makes sense if they keep IS, ES, GS, LS (s) for sedans, RX, NX, GX, LX (x) for suvs and cuvs, and RC, SC (c) for coupes

RC could stand for Recreational Coupe.

I do see your logic.

Sedans consists of:
IS
ES
GS
LS

SUV's consists of:
NX
RX
GX
LX

Coupe's/Convertibles consists of:
IS C
RC
SC

I doubt that convertible will be based on normal IS... it will be based on coupe version for sure.

Following up on news regarding the RC350 being trademarked in Australia, we find that, unlike the CT300 which was only trademarked in Australia, Toyota Motor Corporation applied on November 2, 2012 for the trademark RC350 in the United States for use in association with automobiles and structural parts thereof.

United States Trademark Application No. 85770097 for RX350.

No word on the trademark in Canada yet. The database is updated weekly on Thursdays and there is some lag time between filing and publication on the database.

I don't care what it is called as long as it's a nice looking coupe. I'd probably remove the badges like most of my other cars anyway. Just build it and people will buy it.

It doesn't sound nearly as bad as "FR-S or especially "BRZ". Those are by far the worst.

FR-S stands for Front engine Rear drive Sport

Maybe RC stands for Roadster Coupe, could be a hardtop convertible
