As far as burning everything to CD - one thing you could do instead is just stick in another hard drive, put XP on that and boot off it and copy everything over at your own pace. That's good for data.

As far as programs you have no choice but to reinstall.

Another approach is just buy an XP upgrade and just switch from ME to XP in place then you don't need to backup, except just to be safe in case something screws up on the upgrade.

Another approach to backup is share a folder on another computer and copy everything over a network to it.

Jonny,

Look into Irfanview:

http://www.irfanview.com/

Much more lightweight compared to PS. It does not come close to PS but for resizing, it does a fine job.

OK, Neo.... I've downloaded the reccommended program ,Irfanview. Now, how do I use it to resize large image files into smaller ones that are easier to email or upload?

Start the program. Open/load the image. Go into the Image>Resize/Resample dialog. Once you've picked the size, hit OK to let it do its work. Save the image (to a new name if you don't want to overwrite the original).

Irfanview is another great program to use, also handles large batch jobs and is also a free download!

Here's a link to a free program for windows XP users:

Free MS Resize Tool

Once you install this program all you have to do is select one picture, or a bunch of pictures (using select all, ctrl, shift, or drag etc) and right click. A menu will be brought up with your normal copy/paste functions, and there will be a resize option.

This program rips down your pics CLEANER than any program out there. I have adobe, unlead, etc.. over 5 image programs on my computer and this one is the fastest and cleanest, easy to use image resize program ever.

when you click ok, it will make new files for you (leaves your originals un edited.)
U da man sir - thank u

Jonny
