Default New IS350 Owner!! I have questions...

Just got my 2006 IS350 Im very excited! Super clean, one owner, dealer serviced, front air dam/trunk spoiler, 126K miles, all TSBs and recalls done. Sold my 02 Tundra with 261K miles.

I always tune my vehicles. I want to change the wheels, install an air intake, and add some CF pieces. Questions:

--I see many air intakes available--K&N, Injen, Takada, aFe, Spectre--I don't know which one is better. I want a dry filter. All non CARB legal so how can I get one in CA? Anyone have a run lean condition?

--I want to change the bumper driving lights to LED--how to get access to the driving lights??

Thanks!!

If I remember correctly, only the F-sport intake is CARB legal. Since you're in Cali, you might be interested in that. But if not, I enjoy my Fujita intake.

Are you talking about the DRLs?

Yes the DRL bulbs and the driving lights in the lower bumper. I just bought LED bulbs for the driving lights but I cant see how to access the light fixture

I live in California and have the F-sport intake air box attached to the Joe Z intake tube. Basically it's an F-sport intake on the cheap especially since I got the tube from the classifieds for cheap. I like how it sounds, adds a little growl to full throttle. However the same results can be achieved by making a hole In your stock air box to be honest. I just wanted the pleasure of not having to do that myself lol.

As for the DRL's I'm not to knowledgeable in that area. Maybe someone else can chime in. Oh and also welcome to Club Lexus!

I ordered the Spectre air intake. The order shipped to my friend in NM and he will ship it back to me.

DLR can be accessed just by lifting the hook and looking behind the headlight. There should be a cover with a lock, Just unlock and remove cover. Turn and pull out. Your low beams are the compartment right next to it.

Foglights can be accessed two ways, Either peel the fender linder back, after you remove or turn your wheel to give some more clearance, Youll see the housing right there OR Remove your bumper.

I opted to remove bumper ( Since its easy anyways) because I got chub hands, so more space to work with.

To answer your intake question

The only one with proven gains is JoeZ. which was like +5HP.

OTher than that the intake is purely for sound. So if you don't care for the 5 ponies, then choose the one that omits the desired sound.

Yeah I just want it for sound. Stock engine is too quiet.

Takada and KN provide the loudest in terms of decibel. I have owned my KN for 4 years, and when I WOT, it still gives me wood.

Love my Afe Stage 2 Intake with plastic tube, but need to cover top and bottom air filter to block out engine heat. I also have Invidia midepipe and Tanabe Axle exhaust. It scream when you hit 4800 RPM I also feel the power.
