Default Exhaust suggestion needed : Axle/Cat-Back for an AWD IS250 2011

Hi there,

Spring is coming soon (well, we didn't have a harsh winter so that's ) and I'm starting to shop for an exhaust (catback or axleback, depending on the price).

1) My car is AWD so I'm kind of restricted in my options (IS250 2011). The only ones I found are the Tanabe Medalion and Magnaflow. They are very expensive for axleback only exhaust (1000$+) and I don't find the sound deep enough... I guess that it would be better with a Resonator Delete, but I fear that I might experience too much drone

2) I don't want to get rid of the Catalytic Converter. From what I understand, there are 2 sets? (primary and secondary) Primary is in the headers and secondary is located under driver/passenger front seat? That being said, I am restricted to axleback + resonator delete?

3) I don't want an agressive sound. I like the F-SPORT exhaust but looking for a more ''noticeable'' V6 sound

4) I've read/been told that Axleback exhaust would fit either RWD or AWD since it's the same part but when I look for those exhausts, it's clearly written : non AWD models only. Can someone confirm? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Manzo-Stainl...-/111554660415

Thanks in advance! Your help is much appreciated.

I just picked up the Tanabe Medallion from Amazon.com as a Prime member for under $600. I am going to install it in march or april, or once winter is over. In doing my research it all depends on what you want for sounds, looks and what you want to spend. The general agreement is that all the axlebacks will give you about the same increase in HP which is maybe 7-10 at the very most for an IS350 and less on an IS250. The Tanabe is the most popular because it looks sweet and sounds almost stock until you get on it, WOT. Tanabe also seems to be priced as one of the lowest. A lot of members really like the F sport, but it will be louder than the Tanabe and it will cost almost 3 times as much money. It is my understanding that either exhaust mentioned here won't have much drone if any, but I have read some members experience drone with the resonator delete. I was in the same dilemma as you are and decided the Tanabe was perfect for me. I have a family so I wanted something to give me a little more power, looks awesome and sounds better than stock, especially at WOT.

You are correct, the axle backs will fit both AWD and RWD, those are interchangeable. The midpipe on the other hand are different up front. From my research, the only difference in the AWD and RWD is the left side to the midpipe that connects to the headers. The right is identical, the left just has an extra bend in it

Thanks for your replies.

Not really looking for HP gains, I want a little more sound. I love the F-SPORT, that's exactly the sound I am looking for, but I haven't found them under 1500-2000$ and that's for AXLE BACK only... which seems crazy to me. I could probably ask someone to build a custom exhaust for that price...

As for the Tanabe Medalion, they look nice but from what I've seen on YouTube, they aren't loud enough. I'm looking for deeper sound at idle / low revs (like a G35).

I recently picked up an f-sport exhaust for $700 on ebay. I agree in that $1k+ is a little excessive for an axle-back but try to look around on ebay/craigslist/classified for a good deal. I absolutely love the f-sport and it was worth what I paid for it.

Thanks! 1000$ or less would be OK for a genuine F-Sport exhaust.

This is the cheapest one I found lol http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Lexus-06-13-I...BWRL-r&vxp=mtr

Since I live in Canada and our economy is ****ty right now, 1300$ us = 1900$ for me. Wayyyy to expensive.
