Default need help with 98 (2nd Gen) gs300 2jzgte swap

Hello all,

I am new to Club Lexus and need some help. My son destroyed the engine in my 98 gs300 and I was looking to replace the engine.

I decided to up grade the engine from a 2jzge to a 2jzgte and purchased an engine and 5 speed auto trans combo. The engine comes with the wiring harness, ecm, and turbos. No intercooler. I bought it from a JDM supplier here locally.

The shop that was going to help me with the swap decided to move the business to another market and is not available for me. I have a friend whom owns a domestic shop but is not experienced in foreign car upgrade engine swaps.

I understand that the swap is not that difficult on a physical standpoint but I need some insider information

Does anyone have a list of parts that I would need for the swap and what kinks that I will run into?

I have read several posts and have seen a couple here on Club Lexus but they seem to contradict one another.

Anyway, this is my dilemma.

Can you Help?

Thanks Bob

The biggest problem you're going to run into is that the 5 speed auto doesn't work with the factory 2JZ-GTE electronics. I recommend using the GTE's factory 4 speed.

You will be okay. Lots of threads here on the swap. I think the trans you hav that came with the vvti motor you intend to install is a 4 speed auto, btw, not 5. Good luck and post back with any questions or issues you run into.

Thanks Kyle. I have been researching this and have got several different answers. 4. Speed. 4 speed with over drive. I'm going to keep it simple and just do the combo swap and see how it goes. I'm keeping the old set just in case. Has a lot of miles but is still in great shape.

I'm looking for

Throttle cable
return line or fuel pump assembly
Connector to for ecm It all connects except for one connector
Down pipe and elbow
Air intake pipe and filte kit

? Do I need a maf

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Bob
