eh, just cut it. i used a dremel. you won't mess anything up. it functions exactly like the f-sport intake except i still have the stock air filter. buy an K&N filter and it would be pretty much the same.
here's an example:

PPE true cold air intake. I had the F-Sport for the longest time and when I upgraded to PPE I was very impressed. Much better sound and power. Best part is that it doesn't pull air from the engine bay, it actually pulls it from lower near the fog light and an area where fresh air is coming into the car.

I just put in the K&N Typhoon and I love it. It sounds mean and I can actually feel a difference in acceleration around 5k rpm. I just posted a video comparison a few hours ago on youtube.

I sounds like quiet stock until you unleash the beast. I'm happy with the results. K&N claims 12 horsepower boost to the wheels, feels more like 30

The heat shield included with the intake actually makes quite a difference in temperature. Its about 20 degrees cooler inside the heat shield by the intake compared to the air around the engine.

Is this true? I have the mod bug, I just got a TTFS tune and was looking into what bolt ons I could get that are proven to make power?

Intakes can product extra power, but it isn't usually noticeable by itself. Anytime you help the engine breathe more/better then you are going to produce more power. If you have the mod bug then I suggest doing your research and contacting vendors and members regarding their mods to see what YOU like the most.

I personally had a custom exhaust system and F-sport intake and ended up switching to the PPE exhaust system, PPE headers, and PPE cold air intake. The entire setup is phenomenal and have yet to find something I would rather have.

Thank you, from what I have read so far PPE seams to be getting a lot of good feedback.

I contacted Paul at PPE directly and spoke with him about it. He was very friendly through the whole process and build. If I were you I would just do the same and inquire directly with him.

I have a Takeda and it sounds very agressive @ WOT. And moderately aggresive under normal acceleration. Bought it pretty much for the sound only. It did come with a heatshield- enclosure for one if the biggest filters ive ever seen. Lol.
