Default F sport exhaust too quiet?

Hello,
I've recently purchased an f sport exhaust from someone here.

This should be the latest version as it has the engraving on it.

Here is an image of the exhaust. Are the black things near the top of the Y pipe supposed to be there?

Name: image_zpsyqwxomg6.jpg
Views: 1980
Size: 122.4 KB

The exhaust sounds really low to me, compared to my
Friends f sport exhaust.

To give something to compare, it sounds almost similar to
The greddy Sp elites.

I'm almost positive this should not be the case.
I was expecting to sound more along the lines of a Greddy evo 3

Anyone have any idea what could possibly causing this? Anyone else experience this problem?

Thanks!

F-Sport exhaust is way louder that's for sure. Open all your windows and step on the gas. It's louder than Tanabe bcoz i had the M2 tanabe rep exhaust before. Less drone and gets silent once not on the gas. The right side is pretty much a straight pipe because of the less packing. Add an aftermarket resonator or mid-pipe if it isn't that loud for you. It's been proven and tested by many others. Mid pipe with an F sport is way much louder than any other axle-back exhaust.

Yeah the F sport exhaust is suppose to sound like a Greddy Evo 3. Op maybe it'll get loud overtime could be new and still need its breakin period.

agree with guy about breakin' in period. After 3-4k miles it's gotten louder. I've noticed it sound really good after warm up on the freeway as well.

Thanks for all the replies,

1) I bought the exhaust used, seller stated about 10k miles
Being put on. So breaking in the exhaust can be ruled out
2) thank you for suggesting Invidia mid pipes, however that wouldn't be the tone I'm trying to achieve.
Will be looking into Megan's however.
3) when I was carrying the exhaust, there was a lot of swishing inside, I let it stand up hoping most of the excess liquid would come out, upon installation, I still noticed a slight sloshing sound. Should this concern me?

I have recently installed an F sport exhaust aswell, it was a 1st gen one with no engraving. I think the only difference is the logo engraving im I correct? The thing was loud, but quiet when cruising like on hwy etc.

Also I notice your f sport Y pipe is different? it suppose to be a Y and not a T?

It suppose to look like these, I took some pics from net

You might want to ask your seller about it, this could play a huge roll on why it's quiet

I there was 2 versions of the F-sport exhaust.

Lexus HKS F-sport Exhaust "1st version"
- "F-sport" not embedded on exhaust tips
- Not as loud

Lexus F-sport Exhaust "2nd version"
- "F-sport" embedded on exhaust tips
- passenger side canister is a straight pipe, makes it much louder than the first version

Someone else mentiioned that the 2nd version is pretty loud and does drone at lower rpm's. It is pretty loud when traveling up hill at 25mph-30mph and the drone is very noticeable. It is pretty quiet on the highway, a little to no drone at all.

Also pics of your is jv6!!

^^ You are right.

The first one was the dealer offered HKS exhaust with two mufflers (and no straight pipe on the right can).

Then there are two versions of the F-Sport exhaust (also made by HKS).

These two versions are identical to each other with the only difference is the engraving exhaust (between the F-Sport versions) and the straight pipe instead of a muffler for the right can (HKS to the F-Sport).

Op, if you truly have the latest version then your Y-pipe is not original. I had the f-sport on my 350 before and it was quite loud. If you look into the mufflers the passenger side will be just dark (straight tbrough) and the driver side you should see perforations.

And given it's used the last owner might have driven it very lightly. I'd drive it hard on the highway and try to blow out some carbon... and the liquid you were talking about.
