Default Low end torque got worse with intake?

Anyone notice that your low end torque got noticeably worse after you installed your intake? I have a JoeZ intake I remember stock being more responsive. Maybe my intake is loose?

I have the same issue with my fsport intake. I also disconnected the battery after I installed it.

I could see this with some of the hot air intakes, but joe z is just an aluminium pipe, no?
Do you even have to remove the maf? That means there will be the single hose to connect, other than the pipe itself. I trust you double checked that.

I'm surprised there haven't been a few more responses, either agreeing or disagreeing with the perceived loss of torque.

Yea I don't know I like the sound but I don't like that it has less torque. Seriously considering putting back the stock intake system.

No Matte black doesn't mean fake. There are a variety of Joe Z Intake colors including that one.

My limited understanding of after market intakes and exhausts is that they add a few HP when ur at high RPMs. Generally nothing u can feel. They are for looks and sound. I have heard they sometimes decrease HP/torque at low RPMs but not sure if that's true with fsport/Joe z tube

I'm going to reinstall mine just to verify that all of the hoses and the tubes are all installed properly.

Intakes can rob low end as they're designed for peak HP which occurs up top.
I've always followed the rule of intake AND exhaust at same time to keep from losing torque down low.

Like other's said, you could try to reset the computer. Or you could drive it like you stole it from a stop a few times and the computer should adjust.

I haven't done anything to my IS yet so not sure how it'll respond but it might be time to start tinkering with stuff.
Report back if the ECU reset works.

I noticed my gas pedal was a lot lighter when I installed my F sport intake tube only. Before I installed the tube I disconnected the battery, I believe it was disconnected for a good hour aswell. Mileage and everything still the same, didn't care for the sound so I left the lower box stock.

My SRT intake seems to suffer from low end grunt as well.
Granted, it begins to come alive around +4k rpm (and it sounds like an old fashioned 4 barrel carb), and when it does I gotta make sure I have plenty of room ahead of me.

But I don't live in that rpm range much and while the added torque is nice, I'm not sure if it's worth the price of all the extra noise.

Maybe I'm just getting old.

I think the intake pipe might heat soak which decrease HP. I have Afe stage 2 intake with plastic tube, and so far so good.
