Low end torque got worse with intake?
#16
Let's see. @ 1000 rpm (which is pretty low), on a 4 stroke motor, each piston will fill and fire 500 times. 3.5L engine, so in one minute, that would be 1/2*1000*3.5L=1750 litres of air. You might suck in hot air from the engine bay if your air filter is just loose (AFE, OTOH, gets air from outside... well, mostly). But at that volume of air, no way is heat soak from your pipe going to be any kind of issue. I'd have to go find formulas and then do the math, but I doubt that would cause even a single degree Celsius of temp rise in the intake.

^ finally some logical reasoning. Thank you.
The fact that one experiences any change of performance from an aftermarket intake in an is250 or even 350 is moot. The hp increase to the top end and slight decrease of torque at the bottom end is negligible. This has been discussed thread after thread.
Now that's not saying that something else could have went wrong with your car when you installed the intake tube. Sensor damage, vacuum tubes, etc could be the issue.

From what I read, JoeZ is just the pipe and some people will just make a hole on the stock box like the F Sport. But how just having the pipe help in the performance? I'm thinking smoothly airflow??

Stick with stock, you wont notice any performance gains and using the joe-z's intake eliminates the noise amplified by the oem intake. Joe-z intake doesnt give off any noise....it claims a growl at 4k+ but it is hardly noticeable. I got better MPG with stock as well. No, i was not driving it harder with the joe-z intake...
I prefer oem.

Leave the stock parts on and get a high flow air filter. Don't fall for the false horsepower flag. These guys are getting rich from your dreams while in reality you may actually be making your engine perform worse. The magic to making horsepower and torque is money, lots of it.
