GOING TURBO! 450-500 HP range. 10k to spend! Suggestions??

Forget doing a V160/161 and Supra/TRD rear end unless you want to spend the entire $10k on that part of the project, surprised it wasn't mentioned.
Your budget is pretty healthy, but I'd say doing a solid 400 whp is more in scope, and you're still going to need a transmission. The R154 is the right choice for this budget level but this is definitely a game of bottlenecks as there are a lot to contend with on the IS300 platform to do it 'big'. At 300 whp you can really do a thorough job for the budget in mind, but you're going to be stretching a lot harder to get 450-500 reliably for $10k in mods to this platform. Best wishes, and keep us posted!

It's essentially a newer, stronger R154 that can be sourced from 06 Solstices and similar.

Is 300 as first car?
Ik this thread is really old but I finally found some knowledgeable people. I think I’ve decided to get an IS 300 manual as my first car. It was between a e36 m3 and a integra type r. The IS seems more particle and it’s more reliable than the e36 and integra. I don’t want to mod it to much so that I’ll have problems with it. If I get it I’ll have about 3k to spend on mods. What mod should I do? It seems like a boring car stock what can I do to make it fun to drive? I was thinking of just doing coilovers and maybe put some wider wheels on it. Or should it try and find a bolt on turbo kit for 3k instead of modding the suspension.
