Any way to improve shift performance on is350?
I thought I read someone posting about a couple of different mods that would improve shift performance on the 2IS. IS350 is what I'm interested in. I thought the post was in one of the threads on the VR obd2 device that is causing so much furor but I can't seem to find it now. I know the VR obd2 device claims to do improve shift performance, but there are apparently others. I don't see any threads on this. Can anyone point me at threads or at least the devices that claim to do this?
Thx

I know this post is a bit old. But I know IPT does offer a service to change out the springs and such on the valve body to decrease the time the auto takes to switch gears.

I'm sure a performance transmission shop can do the work also.

What specifically are you wanting the trans to do differently?
How long has it been since the car's systems have been "reset" by disconnecting the battery for 20+ minutes? Over time the car learns your driving style and might become less aggressive over the numerous miles you put on it. Perhaps a simple reset will help. Immediately after the reset, drive the car how you would want it to react...recommended on open roads only.

Thanks for the info from IPT. Not sure I want to start replacing parts in the transmission.
I can't really say I find anything lacking in the transmission, just because I've never tried it with a different trans. And I don't drive a lot of cars I don't own. I floated it because I saw mention of it and was wondering what ecu type mod was available (or piggyback, if appropriate) and what it would gain. From the lack of responses until today, I gather that either mods don't exist or they make little to no difference. Or nobody really cares.
Also, realistically, I'm not going to reset the ecu and drive "aggressively" on a frequent basis JUST to maintain that tune. If there is any improvement in shifting performance to be had, I'd either like it all the time, even if I don't use it much, or I'd like it on demand. Anyway, I was just floating the idea to see what there was to see, not because I cry myself to sleep because I don't have quicker shifts.

What specifically are you looking for in term of shifting performance improvement? Are you talking about smoother shift or more aggressive shift with holding lower gear and such? I guess you can use the sport mode and use the gear limiter to hold the lower gear for you for better acceleration.
Beside that, the transmission to me in both IS250 and IS350 feel silky smooth and responsive. Yeah?
I also agree with Gville350 regarding resetting the ECU, that way the car will learn your habit the shift the way you like. I reset mine on IS350 and it is much better for me personally.

I feel like my 250 shifts down harshly sometimes... in ect power mode. I have a bad habit of pumping on and off the accelerator sometimes because it sounds nice ... don't know if this is contributing....
I'll probably pull my battery and start babying her a bit more thereafter.
