Smile Tanabe Medalion Touring VS. G Reddy SP Elite Exhaust?!

Deciding between these two beautiful exhaust! Both not too loud which is perfect for me. But which one is better? Which one has a better deep tone? Which one drones less? Any advice will help, Thanks

literally had the tanabe fitted today, looks fantastic.

Attachment 499121

have to test it more and let it 'settle' which might take some time.

but initial impressions is it adds a slightly more deep tone overall but very close to stock which is what I wanted, no drone at all from what I can tell.

happy with my choice.

I have Tanabe for my IS for a year and a half now. The best way I can describe it is that it's nice and quiet while being loud when it needs to be (when you step on the gas). Tanabe has a deep, bassy tone and I read up that Greddy having the most drone between the two in question (though I think the Greddy sounds a tad nicer). Tanabe has minimum to no drone depending on the car's RPMs that it's holding. There's lots of threads on these exhausts, searching them up will lead you to some good reads.

GReddy all the way, just installed my SP this past weekend love it! Not to loud but you can hear the difference on start up and idle. And when you open up the throttle it sounds good no drone either.

Thanks for the input! Really helpful. After looking at so many threads, seems like a lot of 2IS owners have Tanabes Wish there were more vids of Greddy exhausts from owners on youtube so I can decide between the two

Both have midpipes! I believe Tanabe is on the left & Greddy on the right

I have the Greddy...and let me be the first to tell you that there is absolutely NO DRONE at all...matter of fact sometimes you cant even tell that you have an exhaust how quite it is. When I first had mine without mid-pipe all i heard was my intake until maybe 4700rpm then the exhause tried to make an appearance...Now that I add the invidia mid-pipe...It sounds so much sweater now but still not loud and still 0 drone even at a steady 80-90 mph driving on the highway in 6th gear. Plus the looks of the greddy pans in the back is amazing compare to any other exhaust in my opinion.

^^ I had the exact same setup...bought the GReddy SP Elite and thought it was the most beautiful exhaust for these cars, and the compliments never seemed to stop. It was however almost completely silent. I paired it with the Invidia to give it some more volume, but still very mellow in comparison with other popular exhausts. I just today swapped my setup out with something a bit more aggressive, but I do agree the SP Elite is the best looking exhaust for a 2IS.

The videos on YouTube and the exhaust section is super helpful when picking out exactly what you want. They have it categorized by loud, quiet, raspy, deep, etc and videos will help you hear it before you buy it. Super helpful.

From personal experience, tanabe is super. But I've always heard good things about greddy.

I will post up my review on the Tanabe exhaust once I install it on my IS250. Just got it yesterday and will be installing it this weekend.
