You definitely need a lip if you decide to go with a quad exhaust. You have to cut the bumper either way. I've seen a few locals who bought dual mufflers and just cut the bumper to fit it. Looks terrible and the tips stick too far out. The tips you choose makes a difference and how far it sticks out matters too. My two outer tips don't stick out as far as the inner ones.
My whole set-up was about $150 for the lip, $250 for paint, $300 for tips/piping, and $200 for a muffler shop to weld it in place. There's quad exhausts out there but they are hard to find and expensive. If you go custom and get it done right, it'll look great but it will look terrible if not.
