Greddy Evo3 - Rattle at 2k RPM under load
Hi all,
I have a 2013 IS250 F sport and had a Greddy Evo 3 axleback exhaust put on this weekend. I noticed that I'm getting a rattling sound from somewhere behind me in the car whenever I'm around 2k RPM and the engine is under load (going up a hill, for example). The sound disappears when above or below 2000 RPM.
I tried free revving it in neutral and the sound cannot be reproduced. At first I thought it was interior plastics rattling from resonance/drone but I had my girlfriend sit in the back and she says it sounds like it's from underneath the car.
So later, I went back and wiggled/moved the exhaust around and there isn't any contact that Ican hear. Where else should I check?
I did reuse the OEM gasket between the mid pipe/axleback since greddy only provided 1 gasket (used it for between the left and right mufflers). Could it be the OEM gasket?

same problem here lol. At first I thought that's normal after you just installed it but its been more than a month now so I'm planning to get a midpipe hoping that loud resonance will go away or at least quiet down but if not, I'm gonna sell my exhaust and get a Greddy sp elite or F sport.

i had it for a few months, but never had the rattle problem
unsure if improper install or defective product?
i miss my evo3, my favourte sound out of all the 2IS axlebacks...but the drone was unbearable...lately been thinking of getting it again and doing a custom midpipe to reduce the drone (awd)...

UPDATE: Solved the rattling. Had my coworker sit in the car driving up and down hills for 15 minutes. Turns out it was the rear ash tray/storage slot (just below the vents for the rear seats).
That compartment isn't complete solid when it's closed. When it's closed, there is still a bit of give and it can be wiggled back and forth a bit. I think what happen is the resonance is greater/louder at 2k RPM under load and it's just enough to cause the rattling sound. If I put my hand on the compartment and press on it, it goes away. I haven't noticed it since figuring it out - I guess that when I pressed it down it closed the compartment maybe that extra 0.1 mm that was causing the rattle.
