Default PPE Cold Air Intake (Pics and Video)

Here is PPE's prototype cold air intake. It sounds AWESOME. This video does not do it justice. It is a two-piece set-up where the intake filter is out of the engine compartment and near the passenger side wheel.

While driving, I can feel an ever so slight increase in torque compared to the F-Sport. The car feels like it pulls just a tad bit harder. It's not as noticeable as the headers, but it definitely feels like it pulls a bit harder.

As I'm sure you are all aware, it's next to impossible to truly dyno an intake since the car is not moving to receive air flow the same way. Nonetheless, I would estimate a reasonable increase in power comparable to any other vehicle with a cold air intake vs. short ram air intake vs stock intake. One of you performance gurus out there can throw out numbers .

idoke, based on what I have seen with intakes, it won't be more than a couple. I would say 6-8 compared to stock and maybe 1-3 more than F-Sport and the other short ram airs. This is being generous. I could be wrong and it could make more though..

I think the most exciting part is that hopefully PPE develops an entire performance bolt-on package. Something like headers, exhaust, and the intake which yields probably 30+ whp gain in total. Maybe even more..?

Great products for sure.

I'd like to see numbers before I get too excited. Sounds great though.

That looks and sounds incredible. Would also like to see the gains over other intakes if there are any.

will the actual inatke be just as ugly as the prototype? (white)

how much is it, and would it be more beneficial than the custom one that one member makes? (dark something)

Thanks! Not sure about any huge gains but I'm sure there will be some compared to stock.

Lol you don't like it white? I think it's gorgeous haha just kidding. A positive thing about the prototype is it is plastic so it doesn't trap heat like other intakes. No idea what they will charge either.

They are redesigning it and then it should be available. I'm hoping within the next 90 days. From what I am being told, the new exhaust design is going to have some awesome features.

It could be less.. I say just email them directly and ask when it will be available. I know from what I've been told about the design that it will be worth the wait though.

It's nice to see a great company like PPE offering more products for the 2g IS! 8 years late to the party but the intake will make +HP and more importantly keep a cooler intake charge. There's some old threads showing IAT #s using a true CAI. I think I posted data with water injection as well.
