does anyone know about the 3.92 gearing with lsd from an 02 is300.... i'm wondering if this till fits with our cars? if not then i'll get the 3.76..

as you all know, the 3.76 unit is becoming very hard to find,
i have read all about the 3.92 vs. 4.27 vs 3.76

just want a 100% answer b4 i pull the trigger.

i have located a 3.76 unit but its very pricey vs the is300 LSD unit

also, the 3.92 is suppose to be even faster, plus on 20x10 rears 275/30/20
so im sure i'll be fine

so my question is, will it bolt up 100%? does it matter from Gs3 or is3? i know they have exact same gearing, but the 02+ came with LSD where as the Gs3 did not, i believe..

can some1 shed some light into this,

Also, i have located a MT, 3.727 LSD locking RATIO diff from 03 is300

3.72 and 3.76 are very close, so im sure its almost the same,

So will it bolt up 100%?

how u liking the 3.92? would u recommend 4 some1 on 20's?

so if the 3.92 from gs3 fits gs4/430's, than shouldn't the is300 diff lets say from 02+ fit as well?

same motor, same tranny, same diff? hmm

I would think that it would work since it's mostly the same. I like the gears very much so and I have 19's.

if you do lots of freeway driving i would go with 3.76. the 3.67 already kills lots of gas if you drove over 65mph.. i cant imagine the 3.92

well, its either or, cause 3.76 units are getting pretty old, and every1 still wants top dollar for them, Like i can't justify paying over $1000 for a unit thats 10-14yrs old plus shipping etc.

i can located a 3.92 diff cheap, but again it has no lsd, i have to do the TRD unit, which at the end costs about the same, give or take,

so i duno what to do,

i have priced 02+ is300 diffs with LSD for a pretty good price, but i would hate to buy it and for it not to fit or some problems occur, i just want straight bolt up, no problems...

3.92 is fine with 20s.

Having owned both a GS and IS300, I can attest that the rear diff. between the two cars are different due to the design of the rear subframe. If it would've fit, I would've slap my IS diff. with LSD onto the GS already..

The 3.76 LSD I just got from Carson was new from Japan. Had the Japan Airlines Shipping Label on the box. I don't think the IS300 LSD is a bolt up and even if it was it may not be up to the task of pushing a heavier more powerful car. The conversion of a non-LSD to LSD is very costly in terms of labor, and the LSD unit isnt cheap. Labor to install the 3.76 LSD was $350.

There are 2 different discussions here.

First would be a differential and housing assembly. This is what is typically considered and in the case of the Supra assembly a direct bolt in on a GS.

Second would be the carrier only. A carrier is what the ring gear and differential gears bolt to. The carrier is then installed into the differential housing which also holds the pinion gear.

It is possible that an IS carrier would bolt into a GS or Supra housing. From what has been said above an IS housing will not bolt into the GS.

It would be valuable to find out if the IS carrier could be installed in a GS housing as that would give options. Of course the TRD carrier could also be used.

LSD carriers generally have either clutch activation or gear activation. The torsen style carriers are the gear type. The TRD is a clutch type. Each has plusses and minuses.
