Default Air Intake differences

I know there are tons of posts about the “CAI” more like short ram intakes. I really want to know which intake people feel is better between Injen and AEM for the 18’ IS 300 (200t). I have read that the AEM intake has a protective sleeve for the MAF which is cool, but other than that what does one do better than the other? Is it simply brand preference? Thanks in advance for any insight you guys can give me.

You can also get the AEM intake pipe which allows you to use a stock airbox and filter of your choice. Cause a full on cone intake will sound very loud on the 200t.

There's also the HPS intake tube (which i'm sort of interested in) which allows you to fly under the radar a bit (get it in black) and doesn't scream (I'm modded). Retains stock airbox. The bottle neck visually appears to be from the intake tube. the stock one shrinks down.

I actually am looking for loud. Owning a G37S, I don’t expect it to be as loud since that’s a NA V6, but this engine is QUIETTTT and the dumb VSC doesn’t help. I know I could get a different exhaust, but I am not trying to have problems with warranty issues and an air intake is too easy to switch back to stock. I am mainly curious between the full AEM intake system and the full Injen one. Thanks for your input though.

I would say it's probably just a manufacturer difference.

I personally would recommend the aFe intake system with the plastic tube.

Are you talking about the one with the plastic box that somewhat looks like the same one as oem? That’s the only one I found.

Is that the one you have? Does it sound about the same as the Injen and AEM ones? What would you say is better with the AFE one?

Are you talking about a different model of aFe? The one I saw is in stock and ready to ship from different vendors.

Gotcha, either way I’m between Injen and AEM. I just don’t know that I like how chrome the intake tube is for Injen.

Stock Box:

Injen's Intake:

:-) It's a really nice chrome, I felt the same way, but when I saw the black Injen intake installed on someone's car, I knew I made the right choice.

How do you like the sound with the Injen?

I absolutely love the sound. It definitely turns heads in public or passing by cars with their window down. WIth a stock box you can't hear the turbo spool and dump air, but with the intake it brings the sound out like no other!
I'm glad I didn't go with anything else because I got a great deal on the intake, and I don't think my expectations would have been blown away as hard from when I first heard the injen one.
