ok so i have an is300 5 speed and i want to turbo it. i dont want a 700hp 2jz or anything, i atleast want a good 300hp for my car. i been searching but i havent found any good turbos for it. Can someone help me with some good turbos and stuff. please and thank you.

If you did a simple search you would have been able to find everything you needed. I'll be nice this time and give you some info.

In my opinion the best kit available for the IS300 is the Swift Racing turbo kit. It comes with everything you need for a complete install, but it's not cheap. However they do have a group buy going on right now, and I actually plan to place a order for it in a week or two.

Another option that was just recently released is the cxracing turbo kit. It doesn't require you to relocate the ABS and it's pretty cheap but it's not a complete kit. You will need some sort of engine management, don't even try boosting your engine on the factory ecu unless you want a blown engine. You will also need some type of fuel system, upgraded fuel pump and bigger injectors at the very least.

Some others also had good luck with the Boost Logic kit but honestly, all the IS300s I seen with them were from years ago. I'm not even sure where you can purchase a Boost Logic kit right now. The only place I seen it for sale is on the suprastore, but they have a bad rep and I wouldn't order from them.

You also have a option of running the XS Power kit, but again it's not a complete kit and it's a cheap ebay kit so some of the components might fail.

I have also seen some people run the driftmotion kits, but it looks like it only includes the turbo manifold, wastegate and turbo. You'll need to buy everything else separately, such as intercooler, fuel system, engine management, etc.

Your final and cheapest option is to piece together your own kit. You can find great deals on used parts, but it'll take a while to search for them. Here's a general breakdown of what you'll need if you plan to go on this route.

+1, also the for sale subforum on here would be a great place to look for quality stuff for a bit cheaper that's already been tested and proven by other members. Look forward to seeing progress and make sure you read through some threads from people who have already done it so you know what you're getting yourself into beforehand.

^^one reason why ive been holding off on turbo for some time now is just the whole fact of learning more before getting into something. One day when im comfortable enough, ill have turbo!

Is bolting on a (mild 350 whp) Turbo kit legal in the state of CA? I think the authorities want the blow-off valve to re-circulate back into the system, and i have no problem with that. But I'm new, to this and I wanted to get all my facts straight prior to investing in something that I may regret later. Thank you for your help.

lol... California sucks for modifying cars...

if it isn't stock, it better be carb approved... there are like a handful of intakes and exhausts and that is it, total...

nothing else can be done...

Thanks man. Yeah, I just found that out a few days after I posted. Sorry... But, yeah. I hate CA for their stupid laws that make no sense. I think I would just put Intake & cat-back exhaust, and a few body mods like a Greddy Style Lip.

Then do Suspension, Wheels, & Strut Tower Bracing. Then Paddle Shifter Mod, & lower Differential gearing for improved Fuel economy. Valve body upgrade, & trans cooler. And basicly everything I have to do *before* a forced induction set-up. Because if I ever have to move back out of state,, I can then have fun! But, we'll see.
