Default VVTi Aristo Swap in Limp Mode

I recently picked up a '99 GS300 with a full aristo swap. Previous owner didn't know a lot about the car but it acted like it had a boost leak somewhere. Bogged, ran rich, etc. I got the car and found the leak, fixed it, and the problems persisted. The SAFC didn't seem to adjust much if any on the car. So after driving around for a couple days, the CEL came on and the car won't rev past 3000rpm. Took the MAF off and it had broken off and been sucked into the turbo. Picked up a N/A vvti MAF and it runs now, but is still very rich and stuck in limp mode. I've unpugged the battery numerous times, pulled the codes, 31 and 59. And even pulled the ECU relays and fuses to no avail. How can I get this thing out of limp mode?

Precision 67mm
Built Auto
Unknown injectors
Unknown pump
-6 feed and return
Aeromotive rail and regulator
~70psi idle
Everything else is unknown.

First of all get rid of the safc all it will do on the VVTI is make it ping. Secondly you will need the GTE maf as the internal area is different.

These injectors are pretty big. Safc is all the way down on hi thrtle settings and still running rich. (When not it limp mode). Will the stock ecu run it?

It appears to have 575cc injectors but is running 70psi of fuel pressure at idle (according to the gauges)

The safc cant control timing and because its vvti any change you make will cause the ecu to advance to compensate the changed signal itself and ping. you will need an Emanage or AEM or similar. the stock ecu should run 575s as long as the impedance is correct. 550 are stock on udsm

I had the same issue. Start with getting the correct MAF sensor. It's got to be the OEM Aristo MAF not USDM. They look exactly the same but have different part numbers. OR, get a way better ECU that will allow you to delete the MAF sensor all together. That will allow you to maximize your gains with whatever unknown equipment you have.

So basically plug in the correct maf (ordered today) and zero out the safc then go from there? Is there anything short of a stand alone price point that I can adequately control the engine with in the piggyback market?

I hear the MAP ECU 3 is pretty legit.

Emanage Ultimate or AEM FIC. They allow direct control of the fuel injector duty cycle, and allows timing adjustments. Other piggybacks do not do that. Most importantly, you need someone that knows what they are doing with the system. You can have the best system in the world, but it will still run like crap if the tuner sucks.

Ok, got the correct maf in and it still won't come out of limp mode. Still 10:1 or worse at idle but the second you touch the throttle it leans out acceptably. Drives ok aside from the limp mode. Safc actually adjusts fuel now but idle is the true issue. Rich as hell, does sometimes. Hard starting. Are idle fuel trims controlled by something else?

EDIT: Reset the SAFC and all is well.. something in it was screwy I guess..

70psi at idle for fuel pressure is not a bit high?

stock fp is about 40-43 psi.

Does the car have an aftermarket fpr?

What 575cc injectors are those?

Remove the Safc first to get the car running properly and then start adding stuff as you go and see how the car behaves.

Car runs now with the new maf. I guess it's the new change in air fuel ratios has the computer pulling throttle under heavy boost. I'm chasing that issue now.
