Did a muffler delete and new axle back Y pipe
So after many months of wanting to remove my mufflers, I finally got around to it. Local shop here that I've had exhaust work done with before made me a new axle back Y pipe. We opened the piping up to 2.5" from the stock 2.25 diameter. It absolutely sounds beast!
I noticed after though that my RPM's run a bit lower now. For instance, I used to cruise at 75 mph @ ~2700 RPM and now it is at about ~2200 RPM. Anyone with straight pipes experience this or know the reason?
I absolutely love how it sounds now. It drones about but I like it and I can still hold a convo in the car normally

It doesn't bother me but to others it might. It's all about personal opinion though.
Could possibly be. I will get video clips and pics soon.

I don't but if I can get under the car, I'll try to take one. All it really is though is 2.5" piping starting from the hangers near the flange (I cut the stock exhaust from there to save the flange and hanger) that Y splits where the original split is. I would've liked the new Y split to be more linear instead of close to a 90* bend but space was pretty tight when considering the brake lines and things.
I reused the stock tips. I just filed the notches down inside so it would fit the larger piping.

I removed my M2 axle back yesterday and did a semi custom unit in its place. Why did you want the larger pipe? I still don't understand that. The exhaust can only flow so much, increasing the pipe size on a stock motor (cam,blower,N2o,etc) would be the main reason to open up the diameter.

Here's a side shot showing where the tips are sitting now. I reused the stock tips and have them extended out a little bit. I personally love where it sits. Not too out and not too in IMO. Other pic is the best undershot I can get right now. It's not the best Y split but it's a hell of a lot better than the stock Y split. I'll try to get a video soon I promise! I just keep forgetting.
*Don't know why it's sideways... it keeps rotating whenever I upload it. Sorry!

To the OP, can you post pics of it behind as well as an exhaust video? Do you still have a resonator or just straight pipe all the way through?

Larger exhaust piping have proven to create power on a number of cars. There is a chart floating around the internet that shows the optimum exhaust pipe size per engine size. Catback exhaust's have larger piping than stock and have had dyno proven results.
