Default 8.6468 1/8th mile pass @ 81.81MPH!!!

Yeah, I did that! Have a slip, but gotta upload it later. I was actually in utter amazement that my half-a-tank FULL weighed down "OLD" '06 IS350 could make such a fast pass. The weather @ 50 degrees AND the fact I let the car cool down 30 minutes before I started making passes helped. This was only the second pass of the night AND before I even remembered to loosen up the dampening on the rear coilovers.

Thought others might enjoy the sheer excitment I had in that moment last night when I surpassed my previous best pass of 8.9xx by 3 tenths!

I had to forget to bring my GoPro last night huh.

The facts :

Reaction : 3.1007 (playin with the torque converter off the footbrake + no opponent)
60 ft : 2.0089
330 ft : 5.6427
ET @ 594 : 8.0968
1/8 ET : 8.6468
1/8 MPH : 81.81

Mods on my IS350 - CAI
Weight reduction - none, and in fact I had a big lunch!

Here's the slip!

I used to not either, but with it being early into the session and VERY few racers there that night due to the cold, I had plenty of time to figure out what works best; and I believe I've narrowed it down.

So on that pass I of course bypassed the water box, goosed it once in-between the water box and the light, foot-braked on out to ~1400-1500 rpms, and left hard with zero wheel hop and minimal squeal. If I remember right, it was the only pass where oddly enough I hit the limiter at the top of second in full AUTO trans (NOT "S") mode. This was all done in "NORMAL", with the rear tires @ 28 psi warm, and the rear BCRs at my DD'ing setting of 12.

Hope the above might help others with raising the bar on the competition!

Funny that you mention that as I was finally able to take the IS350 to the track yesterday for an autocross event and see what difference the OS Giken LSD made compared to my previous set-up. The IS made a big impression with everyone at the event, especially since most of the drivers there assumed that the Lexus was a "four cylinder plush luxury import".

^Sounds like fun! I've participated in auto-x events in every car I've owned, except for the Lexus. Maybe this year will be the year I give it a try? Hmmmmm, perhaps one of these events @ Road ATL?

https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sou...ack-dates.html

Need a certified helmet though for that one; my motorcycle helmet won't cut it for the event.

Yeah, I'm also using a motorcycle helmet at the moment for autox. I find that I don't have much headroom with it and it does affect my comfort/focus when driving at the limit so I may need to proceed with getting a certified helmet as you mentioned.

^Yeah, I'll probably be looking into one here soon; just insure it is the latest certification!

Gville350, do you mind sharing your method of achieving this fast? Specific details would be great.

Also, what suspension mod, engine mod, or any special mod do you have on your IS?

Sure!

*Air down the tires to ~28psi
*Adjust rear supsension (if able) to a softer setting to allow the rear end to squat and minimize wheel hop
*Allow the motor to cool down (if able)
*Turn off the Traction Control
*Turn off the A/C; it is a safety hazard to drip down the tracky
*Street tires = avoid the water box. Drag radials/slicks=epic smoky burnouts!
*In-between the water box and the light goose it once or twice to insure any debris or water is removed from the tires.
*Depending on your launching style, stage shallow or deep (I stage shallow)
*Left foot brake while right foot revs up to a MAX of 1500 (anything more and my car wouldn't hold it at the line AND would wheel hop like a ****)
*Hammer down!

Suspension - BCRs (12k front/8k rear) and camber arms
Performance mods - Fujita SRI
Driver mod - 15 yrs experience and hundreds of passes on the same 1/8th track

I ll try both when napierville dragway open in april( snow until march here)
