The stock air box actually provides more power than a cone filter because the cone filter is drawing in warm air from the engine bay while the air box has a duct pulling in cold air. The Joe-Z pipe alone has a dyno proven power gain on the 2IS. Aside from that I don't think there would be any physical problems with that kind of setup.

Well this may be true it doesn't affect those of us with a GReddy intake which include the heat shield and others as well

14' Lexus IS 350 F Sport • Team Vossen • Vossen CVT 19" • RSR Down Springs • F Sport Exhaust • GReddy Intake • CF wrapped valve/radiator covers

out of all the intakes available for the 3is the greedy one seems to be the most preferable one? Why is this?

Do you have a link to said dyno results? Curious to see that, particularly just how much of a gain. I can't imagine it's more than like 3hp.

I believe this is the thread most people reference. Since the 2IS and 3IS engines are identical, save for the sound resonator on the 3IS intake, most people assume the Joe Z should provide a similar power gain on our cars.

I wonder if a hole can be cut out of the stock airbox to get sound like the 2IS.

If you have an F Sport cut a hole in the bottom of the air box and run a hose down to the unused air intake in the front bumper and get a small ram air affect. Maybe even open up the intake in the bumper a little more. Cold air too.

Hmmm that's weird they won't claim to have the F sport exhaust either if you call directly they only want you to buy it off eBay. Good luck though!

They have them on Sewell for $308 for CL members. $321.16 Shipped to be exact. It says "Coming Summer 2014", but your able to order it. Not sure if its a pre-order.

Still debating on F-Sport vs all other intakes available.

Or would the pipe be a cheaper replacement, since a few members have said that the 2is pipe fits the 3is

If you have 3IS F-sport or the 3.5L its already equipped with the same F-Sport air box. So technically all you need is the pipe, just make sure to get the clamps and the couplers. I'm running this setup currently after swapping out takeda.
